Commercial Description:
Dos Equis Special Lager is a refreshing, crisp, golden, lager style beer imported from Mexico. Made with roasted malts, choice hops, a unique strain of yeast and purified water, this distinctive brew is known simply as “Lager” in its homeland.

Bottle/draft. Not sure about the "special" labeling but definitely a step above the Corona offerings. I slightly prefer this beer over its amber cousin. Best served in a frosty margarita glass.

Bottle. Pale yellow colour with a white head. Aroma and flavour of malt and hops.

The smell of hops and malt along with the crisp golden appearance lead to great expectation. However, the flavor left me gravely disappointed. In the mouth I was overwhelmed by carbonation and the taste of fresh grain and corn. For a Pale Lager, Dos Equis is unbalanced and uninteresting past the look and smell. This is not a horrible beer, it is a beer that I would not consciously purchase again.

Dont get me wrong, I love this beer as a drinking beer, especially on a day by the pool or at the river, but the truth is there is very little about this beer that is special. Good clean taste, thats about it.

Something of a light corny malt aroma. Pale gold color with virtually no head. Actually started with a hint of hop, sweet malt followed, then a burst of carbonation that overpowered everything. Thin, but swishing amplifies the mouthfeel. Not bad.

Bottle. Pale yellow pour with very little head. Basic mexican beer with little to offer in taste. Some what like corona.

As many others have noted, if you have to drink Mexican beer drink this. Its good w/ chips and salsa.

If you really need a Mexi beer, I’de say go with this one. Pours like piss with a foamy head. I prefer the dark.
