Has some zing to it, in that it has more of a piney hops flavor, almost a delicate spice. Body was medium and nothing to brag about. A step up from Old Speckled, and somewhat better than boddingtons. A bit stale in the aftertaste maybe? could be worse, there is some redeeming maltiness. Rastacouere (5553), Montréal, Quebec, Canada

Caramel is pretty much the only aroma I detect. The taste is a pleasant mix of cereals and caramel. Good, but simple, fits english pales okay, but I'd have put it into the bitters. beermatrix (1497), Twin Cities, Minnesota, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 15, 2003 Color is a clear amber with a small white head that didn't stick and really didn't carry any lacing effects, mostly tiny bubbly things on the edge. Smell is clean and soft of pale malt and floral hops. Taste is sweetly bittering with a fair amount hoppyness that gets a little weird and sensed a unbalance of malt that seemed to grab hold at points not necessarily needed in the dryness and bitterness. Very strange, kinda mild in some places and bright in others. Feel is lighter to medium bodied with a yeasty/ hop bitterness thats to piney and needed to be more sweeter and easy. All in all, this is a very crisp, clean bitter beer that's pretty decent but passable. larsniclas (3386), Gothenburg, Sweden

| 1.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 1/5 | 5/20 | Jun 30, 2003 Gold in colour with almost no head. The aroma was pretty subdued with only a minimal amount of hops and malt coming through. The taste was equally as subtle. No complexity and a somewhat metallic taste leaved an unhappy aftertaste in my mouth. I would rather have a Carlsberg than this anyday. IPFreely (1470), Lewiston, New York, USA

Very little aroma to speak of, but I guess thats better than a skunky smell. Decent hop flavor. Nice body, clean finish. Needs a little more in terms of aroma and flavor. Drinkable.
