Great beer looking forward to drinking it again soon.

Mmmmm. Very nice. Had this on tap at Eli Cannon's in Middletown, CT on Feb 16th. Sweet and mild flavor, with a wonderful fruity estery flavor. Mild hops, wonderful balance. I've heard that this beer isn't what it used to be. If this is the bad version, I'd love to try it when it was "good". I'd take this over a belgian or hop water any day. Trendiness be damned.

] Preface: You may find me guilty of rating this beer higher than it deserves, simply for nostalgic reasons. When I was a pup, too young to drink legally in Michigan, my friends and I had a habit of drinking in Windsor, Ontario. We would drink in dive bars, and rock & roll bars (listening to cover bands playing the Police, Clash, AC-DC, Led Zep), and decent restaurants (great seafood and French cuisine in Windsor, by the way), but usually at my favorite place - the Coach & Horses Pub, where they had a decent lineup of tap and cask beer from the British Isles, including Double Diamond. So when I could have stayed closer to home on a Friday night paying top dollar to older guys or to disreputable NE Detroit liquor store owners for a sixer of Bud or Michelob, instead I was hanging out across the border, learning to drink English ales the proper way - at cellar temp while relaxing with friends and throwing darts. OK, enough of that, on with the review… Nowadays, Double Diamond pours a somewhat cloudy dark amber brown, with a good inch or so of off white head. Good head retention, good lacing. Mild malty aroma, no big deal. Ah, the flavor - the taste of my misspent youth. Smooth and malty, lightly sweet, lightly bready, with a definite biscuit taste throughout. Finishes with just enough of a hop bite to let you know its there. Medium body, full soft carbonation. Smooth drinkable and oh so session able. Enjoyed on tap. Thanks for the memories, and the trip down memory lane (aka Windsor’s Oullette Blvd). Now I really miss Watney’s!!!

Big John recommended this one, had a hard time finding it out here but i had a lot of it in ontario where it was easy to find. I liked it a lot. Went down smooth and easy-good stuff. you gotta love the english

Had one of these on tap for starters today at the Old Bag of Nails Pub. This brew pours a medium sparkling bronze. The average white creamy head is fully lasting and has good lacing. The subtle nose is toasted cereal malt, flowers, and pepper. The brew starts sweet, with a fruity middle and a long nutty bitter finish. The balance is nice with a decent level of complexity. The medium body is soft, smooth, and creamy with a dry finish. Very well done.

A beautiful English Ale in my opinion. A large frothy head that dominated the top half of my glass. Some lacing. Aromas of roasted malt and caramel. Tasting one of these made me feel as if I were in an English Pub. A fine beer with a great name . The older bottles in the early 90's were cooler.

A good, full-bodied ale with a well-balanced bitterness. It used to come in BIG bottles here in Sweden but not anymore, pity.
