Commercial Description:
a Belgian-style strong golden ale, featuring the yeast strain from Brasserie d’Achouffe in southeastern Belgium. This terrific yeast produces a cavalcade of fruity, spicy, herby tastes and aromas. Matt used straight Pilsner malt with just a hint of light candi sugar, and a judicious amount of Palisades hops. The mouthfeel of this beer exceptionally round and creamy, and provides a nice counterbalance to the amount of alcohol present (9.2% ABV). A stellar effort, and only available at the Taproom while it lasts. (We should have enough to get through to January 2009.)

On tap at Double Mountain in Hood River. Color was a dark and dull yellowish/gold. Aroma of fruit, yeast and banana. Flavor of sweet malt, banana, fruit, yeast with a bint of flowers in the finish. A solid beer.

Draft at the brewpub. Not sure what to make of this one. Weird banana flavors. Least favorite offering.

On tap at the Green Dragon. Deep golden pour, good clarity, with a thin white head. Floral nose with notes of citrus and soft vegi note that I get from this yeast strain. Palate was dry, slight alcohol shows, fruity sweetness, mild hint of honey, and a faint vegi thing going on. This is one of the better beers I’ve had brewed with this yeast, but I just really don’t like this yeast strain very much.

Tap @ their Taproom... Poured hazy yellow with a white head. Tangy floral and esters on the nose. Mellow dry palate. Tasted like your usual take on a Belgian Strong Ale with a bit of a more hop bitterness. Finished with leafy and sweet, tangy fruit juice.
