Commercial Description:
Crag Rat is a session-strength dark ale that’s distinctively hoppy, courtesy of lots of Simcoe whole flower hops. Named in honor of the oldest volunteer mountain search-and-rescue organization in the USA, based right here in the Hood River Valley. Brewed with organic Pilsner malt, imported crystal and chocolate malts, Brewers Gold and Simcoe hops. 4.7% ABV, 60 BU

Tasted at Belmont Station in Portland, OR--On tap poured a light black body with a thin off white head. Bready, chocolaty, roasted and gritty. Mild, dry finish. NOt super duper, but drinkable.

draft @ the green dragon - yea, i’ll try the double mint porter please...haha...only porter on the menu and it was an average one; thin and black with off-white head; aromas of hops, stale bread and some chocolate; flavors were a little thin for my liking and didn’t have much roasted character to it; dry finish

On tap at the PDX Green Dragon, pours dark brown with a small tan head. Very light body, fizzy and cola like in texture and looks. Hops dominated this porter, the roastiness and chocolate notes really got lost, you get a quick hint of front, but this was a bit over the top in hops. The bitterness, dryness, and carbonation gave it more of an IPA-like palate, not smooth like a porter. Not an awful beer by any means, but I was displeased as I was looking forward to a nice porter. I almost thought to myself, did they pour me half porter half IPA?
