Commercial Description:
We added a boatload of Bings from Matt’s orchard to our Devil’s Kitchen (along with some “unique cultures”) and let ‘em hang out together for a few months. The neon-raspberry colored result features a funky-sour backbone that’s uniquely delicious. Brewed with organic Pilsner and Munich malt, Perle hops, “unique cultures”, and local cherries. 9+% ABV, 35 BU

Nose of bing cherries, light barrel wood, belgian sugars maybe, a hint tart and funky. Reddish pour. No head. Cherry up front, sweet, a little funky then wood on the back end. A little dry, a little cherry, and a little funk in the finish. Vibrant carbonation, lighter bodied. No hint of 9 percent, cherry flavor is a little medicinal to me.

Draft at Naked City. Pours a clear watered down looking cherry koolaid with a thin pinkish white head. Up front, it is a wet blanket, slightly tart pie cherry going on with some medicinal wet corkiness. Really, a pretty enjoyable an inviting nose. The palate though falls a little short of the nose. Thin, not very much cherry or tartness and I think the pilsner malt is really what is not working for me. It just adds a grainy wheatiness that seems to work against the cherries.

Tulip at the brewpub. Poured a very light red, nearly pink with a thin white head. Aroma was much sweeter than I anticipated, nice cherry smell, mild bit of sourness. Flavor was also pretty sweet, nice juicy cherry with a mild sour finish. Pretty tasty beer.

Tulip at Dbl Mtn - Aroma is loaded with sweet cherries and malt. Flavor is malty sweet cherry with a sour finish. Palate is smooth and tart. Dangerously hides the 9%. An easy drinking sour.

Tap @ Belmont Station... Poured red with a white head. Spiced, tart and sour aroma, the usual from the sour. Great palate, a little less dry than expected. Mild cherry notes, fresh and earth. Candy sugars like jolly ranchers. Finished sweet and sour.

On tap at Belmont Station Puckerfest. Pours red, hazy, with a soft pink head. Tart cherry nose, fresh and juicy. Flavor us really top notch, delicious blend of tart fruits, yeast esters, with a sour and lightly funky finish. You can taste that the beer is strong, but doesn’t show any booziness. I hope there are a few more kegs of this stashed, I would love to try this again in another year.

On tap at Puckerfest at Belmont Station in Portland, Oregon--A rich, rich red-magenta head with a lush pink top. Sweet, tart, sour and delicious. Full bodied and as good as anything I’ve had from Cantillon.
