Commercial Description:
The “IRA”, as it’s known around here, marries a ruby red color and rich body with the hop flavors of an IPA. Our unique ale yeast strain adds a delicious layer of complexity. One of the first beers we made, and an enduring favorite. Brewed with Gambrinus Organic Pilsner malt, imported crystal malt, Simcoe and Brewers’ Gold hops. 6.8% ABV, 55 BU

4 oz pour at the Oregon Brewers Festival in July ’09. Nice and smooth with a bite. Good India red but not overly hoppy.

My staple at Cassidy’s in Portland after a long night of line cooking. Pours a deep red color with a large puffy white head. Aroma of hops, green apple, and grapefruit. the roasted malts subdue the hop profile slightly which is nice because hops can be loud sometimes. overall a well balanced and great beer.

Poured from a growler. Hazy reddish/orange color with an off-white head. Nice dry hop aroma. Tasty hop bite with a good malty finish. Good stuff.

2007 - North American Organic Brewers Festival – Portland, Oregon
Great new brewery in Hood River Oregon. This was my first beer from here. The IRA was a great India Red Ale. Has a very nice deep reddish color with a Belgian twist in the flavors. This IPA was actually with a fruity flavor. Deep hop flavors and a light fruitiness this was a great beer. Finishes dry with a strong flavor. Loved this beer. Great stuff can’t wait to try more from this place.

On tap @ Moon & Sixpence. Deep red with a medium white bubbly head. Great aroma of citrus hops and toasted malts. The flavor is tangy malt and citrus hops. I can drink a lot of this beer, it’s very pleasant on the palate and nicely balanced.

On tap at Double Mountain Hood River. Pours out a dark copper topped with a off white cream head. Aroma of citrus hops with a little orange bite. Taste was malt more of the citrus hops and a light bitter end. A fun mix up of the traditional IPA.

On tap at the Horse Brass. Gorgeous red pour with a medium white head. Well balanced aroma and flavor with a nice citrus hop profile and a touch more malt than typical in an IPA. Very sweet finish.

On tap this pours a darker orange, lighter then I had expected. Citrus hop nose, floral and a touch more malty then your typical ipa. Warmer caramel flavors up front, struck a nice balance between the melted caramel flavors and the citrus hops.
