Commercial Description:
The “IRA”, as it’s known around here, marries a ruby red color and rich body with the hop flavors of an IPA. Our unique ale yeast strain adds a delicious layer of complexity. One of the first beers we made, and an enduring favorite. Brewed with Gambrinus Organic Pilsner malt, imported crystal malt, Simcoe and Brewers’ Gold hops. 6.8% ABV, 55 BU

Pint at Sixth St Bistro in Hood River - Aroma has tons of crystal malts, caramel and resinous hops. Flavor matches with a bit more citrus hops. Palate is sticky and tart. Pretty tasty session beer.

Draft at the taproom. Pours a slightly hazy reddish color with a small off-white head. Has a malty hoppy caramel flavor with grapefruit hints. Sweetish malty hoppy bitter grapefruit flavor. Has a sweetish malty hoppy bitter finish.

Yet another rating from the pile of crumpled notes. Pours hazy copper with a lacy white head. Light body and medium carbonation. Fruit and rye aroma, lightly sour rye and hoppy finish.

On tap at Double Mountain in Hood River. Amberish/red in color. Aroma of citrus, wood/mesquite/earth, with some caramel and something akin to BO. Definitely can taste the simcoe in the flavor. That being said it did have some nice balance to it. Good beer.

Draft: This beer pours a hazy deep red/orange with a very thin white head. Aroma is of malt and some hops and a tiny bit of fruit. Flavor is richly malty and has a decent bitterness. Not quite IPA bitterness though. Subtle fruit esters. A strong hoppy grapefruit finish. The citrusy hops dance on your tongue as it goes down. Pretty excellent first beer.

On tap at the BP. Medium amber with a trace white head. Mild malt an hop aroma. Pale aleish. Less hop flavoe than the pale but similar malt body. Medium lite body and in generaal milder and veey drinkable comapred to the pale.

On tap at Crowbar in Portland over OBF. Light sweetness with solid hop flavor matched with light caramel malts. Nice take on a darker IPA.

Tap... Poured reddish/copper with an off-white head. Nice lacing. Aroma of floral hops. Lots of carbonation and a lot of fresh hop flavors. Somewhat soapy but wasn’t too terrible. Some caramel sweetness which was followed by balancing malt.
