In Cologne, Germany, many a brewery produces a light-bodied ale with a delicate fruitiness and rounded maltiness, attributable to the unique yeast strain commonly used. Draft at TapRiver in City of The Dalles. I must say, this is one of the better Koelsches I’ve had in a while! Very clean, a bit effervescent, the right amount of citrus and wheat. Ordinary-looking but I wish I had a tap of this on my refrigerator at home.

European style brews are mysterious to me. It was good, I drank it all, and generally this brewery performs well. Definite sweetness, and a unique yeast that I assume is special.

Draught. Poured pale yellow with thin white head. Much lacing. Aroma of new mown hay with a slight citrusy note. Refreshing malty flabout, with a lekker hop edge. Fruity Finish made me want another. Good with mild food.

On tap at Double Mountain in Hood River. Cloudy gold in color with a smaller white head. Aroma of bread and yeast, with a very light hop presence. Flavor was bready, yeasty with some earthy/spice like elements in the finish. Solid beer for the style.

Served cloudy gold with a small white head. Fair amount of lacings. Aroma is floral hops. Taste is earthy, leather, light citrus bitter hops with a decent malt profile. Not very traditional but better for that flaw IMO. Very sessionable and judging by the short time I spent at DM Brewpub it is quite popular too. A blonde light bodied easy drinking beer with plenty of complex hop bitterness. Very nice beer.
