austone (580), Turku; Pori, Finland Aug 1, 2008 Cask @ Beer Hunters, Pori. Golden, nice thick white head. Clean flowery hoppy nose. Similar flowery flavor, soft malts, hint of passion fruit. Dry and well hopped, bitter finish. Almost medium bodied, easy drinking palate. Very refreshing, tasty blond.
Doppelganger (1216), Oxford, Oxfordshire, England Sep 4, 2008 Cask, Turf Tavern, Oxford. Pale gold, white head. Smells like lemon Fairy® washing up liquid, tastes artificial lemon sweet. Seriously dire. So bad I almost wonder if I got served a shandy by mistake. (Though I certainly didn’t get charged for a shandy...) Ethereal (927), London, Greater London, England Aug 10, 2008 Cask at the Bricklayers Arms, 10th August 2008. Pale gold with little head. Soft barley flavour and then some hoppiness. Not much aroma. Bland and uninspiring and not worthy of Nelson’s name! FatPhil (2408), Espoo, Finland Aug 1, 2008 Cask (St. Urho’s, Helsinki)
Pale gold, loose head. Bright floral and fruity zingy hops in the aroma. Promises quite a lot. Sweet, classic decent golden ale taste, pleasantly hopped. Hops stay for the sweet finish too. Fortunately lacking the "lacking" that modern blonds have. Nothing particularly exciting, but pretty solid. So the aroma was probably the highlight after all. Light copper color, a bit hazy, good creamy head. Yeasty-hoppy honeyish clover aroma. Honeyish leafy hoppy flavor. Dry woody palate.
