Very litle head was left when it arrived at the table via the serever, but i suspect the bartender poured it that way, as it did lace well. I was very surprised and pleased with this beer. A silky palate and toasted bitter chocolate malt make it with enough hops to round out the flavor. this is actually a pretty nice porter. SpringsLicker (2043), Tennessee, USA

Good aroma of chocolate.
The flavor is well balanced and dominated by the chocolate found in the aroma. Smooth, medium bodied, and overall a pleasing well crafted Porter. Maybe Al has tweaked the recipe, but in any case, this batch was a better rate than the ones put up previously by others. A good solid brew all around. maltdog (515), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 10/20 | Aug 25, 2004 Dark cola colored, nice frothy head collapses down to a small ring of foam. Mild aroma of brown malt and instant coffee granules. Smooth malt and chocolate flavor is marred by an odd stale yellow-with-age newspaper quality, and the twang of skim milk. No black malt or hop presence that I can detect. Virtually uncarbonated. Creamy mouthfeel... oatmeal porter, perhaps? Kind of muddy, artificial chocolate flavor aftertaste. Average at best. hotstuff (3175), Indiana, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 11/20 | Dec 26, 2003 Draft at the Downtown Grill & Brewery in Knoxville, TN. A small sized light brown head with fine-large sized bubbles that were mostly lasting. The body of this beer was uncarbonated and semi-transparent with a ruby hue. The nose was malty and the flavor was mild coffee with a bit of an aftertaste to it. The mouthfeel was smooth and this beer had average lacing. thedm (3836), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Dec 20, 2003 TheDM and Hotstuff vacation brew 136. This draft brew was sampled at the Brew Pub in Knoxville Tennessee and served by an attentive staff that included the Owner, the bar manager, Daniel Goss, and the assistant brewer Joey Barbarito. This brew poured a head of fine to large sized light brown colored mostly lasting bubbles that left behind a good lace and a uncarbonated transparent ruby red brown colored body. It had a mild brown malt aroma and a smooth thick mouthfeel with no bite and a mild tingle. The flavor was that of a mild porter with no coffee. haddon90 (1036), Alexandria, Virginia, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Nov 15, 2003 Not the best porter. A deep black pour with a light tan head. Not much of an aroma, maybe some roasted malt. The taste was kind of mild, but the aftertaste was a strong roasted cofee flavor. Just kind of average. Suttree (2732), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA
