Not much of an aroma, perhaps some malty sweetness but I like the dark Ruby Red color. The head was fairly thin and the taste is also of malts with a slightly bitter finish. A good substitute for when they occasionally run out of the state street stout. shendrix (478), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Sep 25, 2006 Pours a beautiful dark brown, with a nicely creamy head. Tastes of roasted nuts blended with caramel and a note of coffee lurking about in the background. A bit light in the taste for such a dark brew, exacerbated by hoppy finish that could stand some heavier notes up front.Overall, a fairly good brew. maltdog (518), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA
| 1.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 4/5 | 2/10 | 3/5 | 4/20 | Aug 21, 2006 Draught. Deep amber, frothy beige head. Eyewatering nose of sour milk and yoohoo chocolate drink. Tastes exactly the same; sour milk and mocha latte. For comparison, the sourness is of equal intensity as the infamous infected Victory V10. Medium-light body, creamy. Poisonously overbitter muddy and ashtray aftertaste coats the tongue. If any of the commercial description flavors were in there, they were completely overwhelmed by lactic sourness. Nasty! decaturstevo (2010), decatur, Tennessee, USA

This beer was a nice amber pour with light lacing. It had a sweetish maltiness with a light bitter finish. A very well balanced beer. A nice beer that was just a tad on the watery side. Overall a damn fine brew. I wish I could make one like it. awebster (165), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA
