Nutty, sugary aroma with some acidity. There’s a sweet walnut taste and an astrigency of nut shells. There’s a bit of breadiness throughout. This is fairly thin for a brown and not balanced too well. tronraner (1917), Seymour, Tennessee, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 26, 2003 Draft at Downtown Grill & Brewery in Knoxville, TN. A small sized tan head with fine-small sized bubbles that were mostly diminishing. The body of this beer was uncarbonated and transparent with a reddish-brown hue. The nose was sweet and malty. The flavor was caramel and malt with a bit of an aftertaste to it. The mouthfeel was very, very smooth and slightly thin. This was a medium bodied beer with good lacing. thedm (3836), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 20, 2003 TheDM and Hotstuff vacation brew 136. This draft brew was sampled at the Brew Pub in Knoxville Tennessee and served by an attentive staff that included the Owner, the bar manager, Daniel Goss, and the assistant brewer Joey Barbarito. This brew poured a head of fine to medium sized mostly lasting bubbles that left behind a transparent uncarbonated brown colored body and a good lace. The aroma malty nutty sweet mild and nice. The flavor was that of a very nice caramel brown malt that disappeared quickly but was nice while it lasted. The mouthfeel was smooth sweetly malted and had no bite. I like this brew a lot and it was very nice. So nice that the bar manager brought me a second glass for free! Thanks Dan! jgb9348 (2502), Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Oct 3, 2003 Copper colour with a decently thick tan head. Very subtle malt aroma with almost nothing else. Medium to Light-bodied; Flavourful maltiness, not too much...with a subtle sweetness. Aftertaste shows some of the maltiness and not much else. Overall, a bit worse than the average brown, but not great nor too bad. I had this on draught at the brewpub in Knoxville, Tennessee on 27-September-2003.
