Sep 6, 2005 Draught at the brewpub. Pours dark brownish black with a dissipating light brown head. Fairly weak aroma. The flavor is mostly oats, charred malts, nuts, and day-old coffee. Decent, but not great.

Jun 11, 2005 Tap. Dark chocolate and coffee aromas with a malt and oat nose. Pours opaque with a creamy tan head and creamy lacing. Flavor is a complex hop and chocolate malt blend with a creamy oat finish. Dark and creamy full bodied palate.

Nov 23, 2004 A dark brown beer with a brown head that held up well. A bit of roasted aroma. Taste was sweet and a little off. Taste like a kit homebrew, with that odd old socks flavor.

Jan 11, 2004 Deep black with a creamy, substantial head. Lots of dark roasted grain flavor. Ends with a sweet, slightly bitter heavy finish. Detected a slighty moldy, off-putting aroma at first, but thankfully this didn't affect the taste.

Dec 26, 2003 Draft at Downtown Grill & Brewery in Knoxville, TN. This beer formed an average sized light brown head with fine-large sized bubbles that were mostly lasting. The body was opaque and uncarbonated with a dark brown hue. The nose was chocolate and coffee with a malty and coffee flavor that had a lingering aftertaste. The palate was creamy and full bodied. This beer had excellent lacing.

Dec 20, 2003 TheDM and Hotstuff vacation brew 138. This draft brew was sampled at the Brew Pub in Knoxville Tennessee and served by an attentive staff that included the Owner, the bar manager, Daniel Goss, and the assistant brewer Joey Barbarito. This brew poured a large sized head of dark brown colored fine to medium sied long lasting bubbles that left behind an excellent lacing and a dark brown opaque body with no visible carbonation. The aroma was nice with dark malts and mollasses while the mouthfeel was thick smooth and had a mild stout finish. The flavor was very nice with dark malt mollasses and no coffee. It was a very drinkable brew that I enjoyed very much. Nice job Joey!

Aug 29, 2003 A deep black color with a tan head. Very very sweet. Too sweet for my taste. Some hops in the flavor. Not bad, but not my best stout.

Jun 28, 2003 Black. Actually sucks light out of a room. Completely, totally opaque. Fresh coffee aroma. Full, rich palate. Coffee and burnt toast in the falvor, then a mellow but bone dry hop presence. Big malt flavors, too, with maybe a little smoke flavors. Very filling, very satisfying.
