Mar 26, 2008 Amber ody with a decent retaining head. Aroma is sugary with some nutty undertones and faint hops. Quite sweet with a caramel taste and a light hop kick for balance.

Jul 1, 2007 5.6%abv. Bright amber color with slighty sweet and nutty aroma and flavor. Balanced well with some slightly citrusy hop character. Rich and full bodied for an amber. Nice beer.

Nov 4, 2006 Had this in the brewery on vacation from England. More hoppy than the English bitters that I drink at home, but it had a depth that was unexpected. It had a freshness that didn’t pall even after a few pints and stood up for itself against some excellent bufalo wings.

May 1, 2006 Draft. Rich amber color with an off-white head. Nutty malt flavor with some roastiness and caramel. Light nutty aroma. Some hops balancing. Nice malt complexity. Clean finish.

Sep 13, 2005 Had on tap at the brewpub in Napa. Not much going on with this one. Light copper appearance, white head. Brief nuttiness. Feels like something is missing. Thinnish mouthfeel.

Mar 15, 2004 on tap brewery: how do these get in here when nobody has rated them? this place most people dont know about unless your from napa. everyone else is out sampling wine. however, downtown joes has some solid good tasting beers. i like the tail waggin ale, on a warm spring or summer afternoon out on the patio. this one is pretty much your typical brewpub style amber. slightly overhopped for this style with a slight malt character of sweetness. copper with big bubbles that disipate quickly. try the pulled pork with it, you cant go wrong.
