Hazy, moderate nut brown color, another beer of theirs that comes out undercarbonated, though it just so happens that I don’t think that’s a problem--it’s nice relief from most American beers in bars (including brewpubs) that are way too overcarbonated. I liked the basic flavor components, nutty, some suggestion of hops peeking through, caramel, and candy. Quite satisfying. Aromas of roasted nuts with a hint of chocolate. Perhaps like most SBC beers they can be hit or miss, I thought this one was really great. MilkmanDan (1940), Eagan, Minnesota, USA

Slightly hazy brown colour with a thin tan head! Aroma of soap, strong nuts and a fair amount of malt! Tastes of malt, nuts and a fair amount of sugars. Aftertaste shows some bananas and subtle maltiness with predominiant malt. Overall, a better than average brown-impressive for someone who doesn't like the style! I bought this twelve ounce bottle at Shenandoah Brewing Company in Alexandria, Virginia and sampled it on 21-November-2003. jeffin7 (610), Silver Spring, Maryland, USA

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 23, 2006 Tap at SB Co. - Rusty brown, thin white creamy head. Soft floral nose with roasty, nutty, and chocolate undertones. Flavor was similar with earthy hop notes to boot. Light to medium bodied, light carbonation, drying, nutty, mild chocolate finish. Drinkable, but nothing special... SeamusNeko (45), Anacostia, Washington DC, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Apr 29, 2004 Setting: Served on tap at Dr. Dremo’s in a pint glass.
Appearance: Clear medium brown topped by a smallish light tan head that dissipates to a scanty film and wee ring after a few sips. No lacing at all.
Aroma: Light bready malts, faint whiffs of anise and candi sugars.
Flavor: Sweetish caramel malts with a modicum of hoppy bitterness. Mild toasted malt flavors, too.
Palate: Light to medium in body with short-lived aftertastes.
Overall: Eh, this ain’t too bad, but there are better beers available at the place where you can get this, among them Brooklyn’s Brown Ale. argo0 (7025), Washington DC, USA
