Nice gold-orangeish hue, with a plesant floral/fruity aroma. The Beautifully rigd malt prescense seemed to compliment well with the seemingly neverending hop prescence... this brew left me thristing for more. Perhaps I will stop by and get another growler while i still can. MilkmanDan (1940), Eagan, Minnesota, USA

Flavor has a simply beatific hop/malt balance, perfume and citrus, sweet and hoppy. Palate great, sticky and malty, coats the mouth beautifully. This rocks. greghate (10), Parkesburg, Pennsylvania, USA

| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Dec 3, 2004 This came in a half-gallon growler jug courtesy of PisskyNights, many thanks to him. This poured out a clear dark amber color with good bubbling carbonation and a tall white head of foam peeking out of the glass. As the head receded down of a covering of bubbles it left good sheet of lace around the glass that clung to it for a while. Very pleasant aroma stirs from the glass with a nice blend of fruity sweet malts as well as a sharp citric hop smell. Definite notes of floral and piney hops as well mingle about to make this wonderful smelling brew. Quite the balanced nose as neither the malts nor the hops tend to dominate but at the same time both make their presence well known. Great flavor here with sweet caramel malt taste upfront followed by the citric piney bite of the hops. A nice crisp clean taste all around with a bitter finish, very tasty indeed. Mouthfeel is about medium with good carbonation. Obviously drinkability is not a problem with the entire growler being downed quite easily in one sitting and I wish I had more afterwards. A well-balanced and tasty IPA that I would highly recommend you try if you can get your hands on it. TAR (2095), Boulder Co., Colorado, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Jul 29, 2004 Updated: Feb 3, 2005Hazy coppery-orange. Fine-bubbled dusty-white head. Scents of grapefruit rind bathing in pine resin. Hint of lightly scorched caramel, nuts, and rich toasted malts. Tight carbonation with a thick, jellyish body. Beautifully rounded body carries the chewy caramel, which coats the palate and offsets the brash pine flavors, early on. Hint of apple acidity deepens the brew, but is mostly squelched by the thickness of the body and rich caramel malt. Late surge of leafy herbs and bitter pine restore the sharpness to the explosive tangerine hop aspects. Finishes with a plethora of savory hop bitterness, yet with oodles of soft, juicy hops and sweet toasted malts, nuts, and buttered caramel. Caramel aftertaste balances the lingering grapefruit and spicy evergreen. This is remarkably clean and focused, just as IPA should be. These guys exude nothing but mastery when it comes to the use of a hopback. argo0 (6985), Washington DC, USA

Aroma is medium sweet, strong floral, plus orange and grapefruit, caramel. Taste is dominated by the hops -- pine, orange, grapefruit, floral, even some spicy hops, but backed by caramel and medium sweetness. Creamy medium-full body. An excellent beer, thanks for sharing Eric! And Troegs/Drafting Room: start bottling -- if you sell it, they will come! jeffc666 (1895), Fairfax, Virginia, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Jun 29, 2004 Bottled from a growler by egajdzis thanks so much for this treat! Pours a nice clear amber with a very nice rocky off-white head. Glass-lacing is outstanding, especially considering this is a beer bottled from a growler. The aroma is a massive piney hop kick with some sweet malts lurking in the background. The hops are not nearly as dominsate as the aroms would lead youto believe, however the flavors are awesome and work amazingly well together. Medium bitterness is balanced by light sweetness and a good amount of pine and citrus. Medium bodied and just fells wonderful on the palate. This is truly a remarkable brew. The best Troeg’s brew I have yet had.
