Poured a medium and cloudy amber color with a small sized off white head. Aromas of citrus, a little toasty, floral and skunky weed. Tastes of citrus (grapefruit), caramel, and I was getting some tropical fruitiness. Some lacing left on the glass. bu11zeye (5495), Frisco, Texas, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 18, 2009 Bottle... Lightly hazy orange ale with a small, creamy, white head. Good retention. Grapefruit, resin and earthy notes in the nose along with lots medium-roast malt(s). Very full-bodied with timid carbonation. Huge malt backbone with lots of caramel sweetness that is countered by an abundance of earthy hop bitterness; neither really reigns supreme = nice balance. Lengthy, mainly bitter finish. Kudos to doublesimcoe for the bottle! DocLock (4648), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 14, 2009 Draft at DRE. Pours deep coppery brown with 1-finger off-white head that clings well. Nose is huge resiny and feety hops, mango, caramel malt. Tastes caramel malty, piney, mengoey, canteloupy, and hoppy. A bit too mangoey for me, and reminds me a bit of Stone 11, I believe (the very mangoey one). Solid, but not as good as the prior DRE Anniversaries. Ughsmash (4032), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 8, 2009 Thanks to Rich for the bottle (as Scratch 20). Poured clear reddish-orange with a creamy, well-retained cap of off-white head. The aroma picked up fresh, bright oranges and floral notes over a sweet caramel and bready base.. a pinch of peppery warmth on the back of the nose. The flavor found pale malts, honey, and a bit of caramel surrounded by spicy and heavy bitterness (oranges, peppery pine, and perfume rocked it hard).. peppery and bitter well beyond the finish.. quite well balanced. Medium-bodied with moderate carbonation.. bitterness was a touch scratchy, which worked well.. I liked this one much. Rciesla (3645), Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA

Aroma of floral hops, caramel malts, citrus, grass, perfume, and a bit of metal. Taste of citrus, pine, grapefruit, toast, a bit of caramel, and a bitter finish. Not bad, seems to be not very different than the later IPA versions of this Anniversary beer. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 13, 2009 12 oz bottle as scratch 20. Pours a medium to deep hazy amber with a thin white had and spotty lace. Aroma somehow has a typical troegs hoppy smell- similar to a cross between the old ESB and the hopback just cranked up a bit more- spicy citrus, mint and anise, with a good smooth caramel and toffee malt base. Flavor is resinous with citrus hops, floral hops, mint pine and sap with medium crystal malts, some toffee, and orange mango fruitiness, and a clean full mouthfeel and moderate bitterness. Pretty good actually.
