Just shy of opaque and brown-black, with a five-finger and mostly lasting head. Caramel cola, corn, and a hint of dry grass in the aroma. Big sweet entry of caramel and brown sugar lasts forever. Finally some faint wood, smoke, dry herbs and chalk show up in the way aftertaste. Medium-heavy body is watery and syrupy at the same time. Slight dryness way after the finish rescues this beer from being extremely cloying. Definitely a one-off (even in a 9.5 oz. bottle partaken at 35 degrees N latitude). | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 28, 2008 Ruby black with reddish undertones, and burnt umber head. Aroma is milky and not much else. No roast or other sweetness to speak of. Incredibly sweet beety candi sugar taste takes one off guard. Very little hop character. $2/284mL DragonsHead (137), Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 22, 2008 Malty sweet. Caramel, but just enough roasted & dark bitterness to keep it from horrible imbalance. A little bit of alcohol comes through in the finish. EithCubes (2170), Indiana, USA
| 1.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 5/20 | Mar 21, 2008 Just missed out on being the 333th review for this sucker. Bottle. Too-sweet malty aroma, some brown sugar and light corn, dark coke pour with a fizzy light brown head (actually ends up pretty rocky). Overly cloying body, really rather hard to drink, with light molasses and roast notes. Medium body and a sweet malty aftertaste. The black malt can’t even overpower the corn syrup here; an undrinkable, highly-overrated mess - what are you people thinking!?!?. blipp (1736), Newark, New Jersey, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Mar 21, 2008 Bottle. Pours almost black with ruby accents and a sticky tan head. Aroma has notes of semi-sweet chocolate and fruit. Medium body. Sweet flavor with notes of roasted malt and fruit. Also has a bit of an alcohol/metallic edge. Not bad. keepersj12 (815), Sicklerville, New Jersey, USA
