Very sweet malty and slight fruity aroma with notes of chocolate, coffee and alcohol. Strong metallic finish, and a way too sweet brew. rlgk (3378), Vårgårda, Sweden

Pours a small brown head and a dark brown beer. Some carbonation, sweet taste gives way to a nuttiness, and hopsbut not terribly complex. A drink I literally grew up on with many fond memories however it no longer has the cache with me that it once had. ChainGangGuy (2592), Kennesaw, Georgia, USA
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Oct 4, 2007 Appearance: Pours a black body with brown edges and a foamy, khaki-colored head.
Smell: Aroma of odd, seemingly artificial chocolate and licorice with a hint of a well-used CoinStar machine.
Taste: A crude, unrefined taste of sweet chocolate, licorice, and dark corn syrup. Sugar is thrown haphazardly all over the palate. Hints of loose change. Finishes with a sour, twangy fruitiness. All in all, it’s like an ice cream topping purchased at the dollar store.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation.
Drinkability: I can’t conceive of myself ever giving this beer another go. Beerlando (2347), Orlando, Florida, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Oct 3, 2007 Very dark cola color with a pitch black center. Small, foamy, tan head that quickly settles to a thin rim. The aroma shows overly ripe bananas, marshmallows, cane sugar, and hints of chocolate. Faint dry grains appear on a deep inhale. As sweet as the aroma is, the flavor just takes it to another level. This beer will give you cavities! Sugar, sugar, and more sugar. Marshmallow again shows a strong presence, as do banana puree and hints of licorice. Sweet, sticky, medium body that coats your gums like a piece of candy would. This beer is intensely sweet and not at all what I’m looking for in a stout. Needs more hop character and much less sugar to make it enjoyable. jimhilt (1688), Bow, New Hampshire, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Oct 2, 2007 Pours a four-finger light brown head that fades quickly to a thin layer leaving some lace. Midnight black color. Molasses nose. Light carbonation and light-medium bodied. Flavor is sweet molasses but not cloying with a clean finish. Nice sweet stout but not a five like I thought it was last century. 284ml bottle $1.75 from Kappy’s Fresh Pond Jamaica Plain, MA. Bobsy (194), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 0.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 1/10 | 3/5 | 1/10 | 2/5 | 2/20 | Oct 1, 2007 Pours nice enough. Dark brown, almost black, with a good tan head. All downhill from there. Aroma is mild and suggests sweetness. Flavour is all sweetness. Contains corn syrup? No kidding....about 50% I’d say. Also a harsh alcoholic edge. There are coffee notes to the flavour, but they are completely obliterated by the sugars. This ranks as one of the worst beers I’ve had in my life, and definitely the worst stout I’ve ever tasted.
