An almost black colored brew but some ruby highlights shine through when held up to the light. Nose of sweet malts, faint roast, fruit and spice. Body is lightly medium with a sticky oilyness. Sweet malts up front, caramel, fruity bananna notes, sugary sweet, faint roast notes buried under the sweetness. Malty sweet finish. Really too sweet for my tastes. Props to beastiefan2k for nettin me Jamaica mun!! berkshirejohn (1830), Bracknell, Berkshire, England
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 18, 2007 275ml bottle. Dark blackish brown, with a deep milk chocolate head; rich roasted coffee aroma with some smokiness; smooth and fruity, with an acidic finish - this didn’t have the depth of roasted malt I was expecting; finish is bitter cherry, managing to be both sweet and sour at the same time. Very refreshing. cyrenaica (440), Milton, Ontario, Canada

I tried this beer on September 14, 2007 at ’The Beer Bistro’ in Toronto. The beer poured a very dark brown into the glass with a thin tan head. The aroma was a combination of malts, coffee and caramel. The mouthfeel was medium-bodied, silky, with no apparent carbonation. The flavour was a combination of malt and fruit.....cherry like. Cheers JoeMcPhee for picking this one for me lady. Liquorice and spice in the aroma. Slight residue of stained white head. Flavour of liquorice, molasses and spicy rum. Flavour doesn’t last. A shame as I would love it to be a little more flavoursome. Still a smooth nice stout. Better than expected. aerosol999 (113), Quebec, Canada
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 13, 2007 Appearance: Thick tan head, opaque black
Aroma: Chocolate and burnt sugar, fruity fermentation esters, butterscotch, coffee.
Flavour: Roasted grains, chocolate and french roast coffee, thicklysweet, fruity fermentation esters (pears apples and pineapple) Alcohol helps balance the sweetness, Ovaltine.
Mouthfeel: Full bodied, chewy and oily.
Overall: Thick chewy and sweet balanced with a sharp roast character and a warming alcoholic tang. Long lingering roasty sweetness. No way I could drink more than 1 bottle. apoptosis (1316), Long Island, New York, USA
| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Sep 8, 2007 This looks like a cola-drink rather than a beer. No bubbles on the top, no head at all. Sour, pungent aroma, filled with cocoa, roasted malts and even some caramel. Its terribly sweet, nearly like a cola! I guess since its made with corn syrup, this makes sense, but it doesn’t make for a tasty beer IMHO. notalush (2678), Denver, Colorado, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Sep 8, 2007 Bottle from beastiefan2k (thanks!) - pours a dark brown with an off-white head that vanishes rather quickly - very sweet aroma, with the corn syrup being fairly apparent in the form of an "I smell coca cola" kind of sensation, with background anise and plum - very sweet flavor - once again, apparent corn syrup in the form of an "I TASTE coca cola" type sensation - some blueberry notes and a kind of burnt sugar flavor - finishes even sweeter than it starts, with a karo pancake syrup flavor and lingering burnt/char notes and some chocolate - far too sweet, and a little artificial-tasting. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 5, 2007 Dark opaque blackness. pinky high head doesn’t really fade. GREAT STICKING! Sweet sweet jesus this is gonna be a sweet stout! You can taste the sweetness. Nice fruity sweetness not just sugary. It’s got some molasses and some cane sugar. Not to thick and not thin. just right for a stout! Better than many stout but still not running woth the tops dogs. O MY GOD at 7.5% I guess 6 would be great but I was pretty happy after 4. I would pick this one up again. There are other ptions but this one is flavorful and it’s not your run of the mill garbage (AKA GUINESS)
