[186-20070114] 300mL. Smells like straw and light fermentation, a little malted, a little medicinal. Black brown body with a big medium-lasting foamy light brown head. Medicine and malty flavour, medium sweetness and a little burnt, then bitter after and leaves a funny taste. Medium body, good mouthfeel. Everything comes together in a nice way but the flavour is wanting.

Pours dark into a shaker. Tan micro head quickly recedes. Slightly sour, vinuous caramel.

(Bottle 28,4 cl) Clear reddish brown with a rough, beige head. Sweet aroma of roasted malts and alcohol. Medium body, sugar sweet malts and molasses, alcohol and a metallic edge + and odd, fusty flaw. Surprisingly some bitterness shows in the finish. This won’t get me hooked. 090207

Very deep dark colour, but smells of malts and sweet stuff (almost yogurt-like??), surprising given it’s look. Flavour is malty and sweet with a hint of molasses. Strong in alcohol content and has a bit of bite. Quite nice for a stout (I don’t usually like these types of beer).

I couldn’t even finish this beer. Which is saying alot, because I’ll even finish a bottle of Coors Light, and i HATE coors light. Really wasn’t expecting it to be THAT sweet, sorta tasted like I mixed Pepsi and Coors together. It looked pretty nice coming out of the bottle, and smelt alright. But oh god the taste. Definitly not for me. If you like REALLY sweet stouts, you might like this beer.

Bottle from a convenience store in Georgetown, Grand Cayman, while on a shore excursion on the Rhapsody Of The Seas ship, Royal Caribbean fleet. Pours nice and dark with a dark tan head, but the body is too carbonated fo my liking. Smells of chocolate-covered banana. Tastes of corn syrup and chocolate. Very sweet, indeed. Hints of rum and cane sugar in there as well. Nice mouthfeel. Much better than I expected.

I guess its clear that the sweet stouts just aren’t my bag. This was okay. Poured a smooth dark brown with a modest lighter brown head. Very sweet aromas and flavours predominantly of molasses and brown sugar. I didn’t get much chocolate flavour, maybe a bit of fruitcake as my palate adjusted. Just too sweet. Yeeesh.
