Pours a very syrupy looking black colour with a nice brown head, albeit a small one. The nose is of malt, nuts, and liquor. Taste consisting of sweetness and fruit with a bit of coffee and chocolate in the aftertaste. Also a warming effect on the stomach, from the high alcohol percent surely.

The flavour is bit sweet with a nice mild roast, bit fruity and warm aftertaste ending with a good touch of bitter chocolate. Great brew! SudsMcDuff (1703), was CapeTown,SA-now Houston, Texas, USA

I felt it was a bit to sweet almost like Soda. My wife liked it better. Still it was cheap I’d probably buy it again. NachlamSie (1647), Tennessee, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 31, 2006 bottle. Pours pretty black with not much head. The aroma is quite sweet, some notes of chocolate, thin chocolate, maple. Body is medium, maybe just a notch thin for the style. But, the flavor is tasty. Everything is nicely balanced, caramel, just the slightest of cola, a bit of maple, chocolate, and some coffee notes. Good easy drinking beer, not thick or savory, though. mansquito (839), Boston/Philadelphia, USA

Pours nice and black, then has a nice dry chocolately taste that is coupled with the strong alcohol taste. Relatively easy to drink. Worth trying if it is seen. Minimal mocha head that vanishes quickly. Aroma is almost all alcohol, with the other elements of a stout present, but waaaaay in the background. Taste much the same, alcohol upfront, but there is more complexity here - prunes, black licorice, some dark chocolate - very sweet with a strangely medicinal tinge. Not much in the finish. A very light-bodied stout given the alcohol content. Might be nice in the Caribbean evening after a day of Red Stripe, but here in the cold North, I need something a little more substantial. Aroma of chocolate and raisins. This ain’t Guinness. Thick, almost ... tangible, mouthfeel. Sweetness, roast, a bit of coffee, something else. A bit of alcohol, and little bitterness, on the finish. Interesting. Worth another try.
