It is a very bold tasting sweet stout that is very filling and is best enjoyed with something salty. The aroma is of molasses, pours out of the bottle a very dark brown (practically black) with a thick frothy head that remains. Tastes like sweet malt syrup straight from the brewers and has a thick, syrupy palate. Good beer for the right occasion... ie. Don’t drink this one while working outdoors on your patio like I did... It kicks in like a mule in 95 degree weather. crizay (1050), Brook Park (was Tampa,FL), Ohio, USA

Good aroma mostly roasteiness and slight coffee and chocolate. Taste is mainly bittersweet dark chocolate followed by some coffee. great creamy sliky mouthfeel and a nice warming alcohol touch with a hoppy aftertaste, good beer. french tickler (642), Aylmer, Quebec, Canada

This one has a sweeter more light flavor than the others, yet has that little something that makes you wonder... and just want to enjoy it... swirl (267), collingswood, New Jersey, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 5, 2006 Funny it has all the looks of a stout but it’s very light definately a stout for south of the border. The aroma was rather faint (I tried it at Monk’s) but there was certainly more than a little chocolate the taste was nice rather refreashing with some of that chocolate but more fruit. dnas2 (655), Yelverton, Devon., Devon, England
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Aug 23, 2006 Looks like a stout with almost no head. Odd scent which seems to have a mix of hops, berry fruit and sugar. Fizzy and slightly oily in the mouth; perhaps also a little watery. In the mouth I had a hint of cranberries in the front, and then was more like a weak Guinness by the time it reached the back of the mouth. All of the aromas are very subtle, however, and it is only slightly bitter. Not bad for such a strong beer. Doppelganger (1353), Dry County, Arkansas, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Aug 22, 2006 Black pour, brown highlights, and a nice beige cap. Milk chocolate aroma with burnt toast and malted milk. A big syrupy roast onslaught of flavor--vapory, chewy, dark toffee, Turkish coffee (with cardamon). A lingering burnt sugar between sips. Palate is oddly thin for all the noise. I really liked this! It’s uncouth, loud, and yet oddly charming. wunderbier (1271), Tampere, Finland
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 4, 2006 284 mL bottle, Bordeaux glass. Dark brown-black hue with traces of burgundy at the shallow points. The head is short, frothy and light tan in colour. Rich anise strikes first, shortly followed by a massive vinous, tannic sensation. Prunes and currents add to the mix to create a Zinfandel type experience. Woodsy hops, bitter chocolate and dark caramel underpin the aroma. The flavor lacks some of the dynamics of the aroma but fares well none the less. Chocolate, espresso and molasses notes come in force leading into a juicy, slightly acidic, center redolent of dark fruits. The finish brings some spicy and roasty dryness but mostly continues the earlier themes and is fairly curt. An aftertaste of dark cherries can be felt across the front of the tongue. The body is slimmer than expected, though still robust, with a velvety texture and restrained carbonation. A mediocre effort compared to some of the greats in this style but still respectable, especially when compared to the other bile spewed forth by this brewery. Fin (3481), Merton, Oxfordshire, England

Pours black with a light brown head, sweet very malty aroma, and this follows through into the taste, very pleasant but perhaps a touch too sweet masking some of the other flavours a little, but there was a roastedness about it and maybe even a little chocolate there.
