Aroma is licorice and chocolate dominating some coffee. A hint of darker fruits in there. Flavor is the same, solid. Aurelius (2652), Tallahassee, Florida, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 25, 2005 Updated: Dec 26, 2005A delicious dark chocolate cookie aroma -- doughy and bittersweet. Deep deep ruby brown, big dark tan head, good label, wee 11.2 oz bottle. Sweet, malty, tart, some high gravity homebrew elements. I can imagine that a number of these would put a foot in one’s arse on some sunny Carribean barstool. Not very bitter. Finishes chocolate. Medium body, a bit watery feeling at times - not from being thin, but from losing some CO2. thedm (3836), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Dec 25, 2005 The DM & Hotstuff vacation tour July 2005. This bottled brew from Stouts in NYC poured a small sized head of foamy finely sized mostly lasting light brown colored bubbles that left behind a good lacing. The body contained no visible carbonation, was opaque and black in color. Its aroma contained notes of vinous Worcestershire sauce dark malts and mild raisins. Its mouth feel is initially slightly tingly thick with a lingering slightly tingly palate and a hoppy aftertaste that soon fades. Its flavor contained good vinous dark malty notes. hughie (3068), Bedford, Bedfordshire, England
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 15, 2005 Very dark brown with a brown head. The aroma is liquorice and bready malt. The taste is intensely sweet, alcoholic and full of chocolate. Quite basic and unsubtle, but remarkably good. Mungo (2474), Southampton, Hampshire, England
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Dec 9, 2005 Bottle (from Asda, BBE Jan 07). Sweet liquorice roast aromas. Roasty liquorice fades somewhat in the body leaving a peversely thin yet sweet and partly fermented feel. Interesting enough but not to my taste. Probiere (992), Iowa, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Nov 28, 2005 Somewhat thin-bodied, milky-lactose sweetness, some toasts, some nuts. Bascially a very sweet, slightly roasty, mild chocolate, no coffee, low bitterness, low fullness or smoothness to body. Despite all that, not unpleasant. Although, this has ruined my 4.3 average for the foreign stout style. Sorry, Lion Stout! fuyajo (225), Portland, Oregon, USA

It pours do a dark brown/red color with a small head. The aroma has a molasses, sweet smell. thin but foamy mouthfeel, with a sweet molasses taste. Other tastes include a hint of alcohol and roast. A pretty sweet flavor, overall. However, it’s good.
