On the tongue, very sweet, with some strongly bitter espresso hints near the finish; smooth mily palate. Port alcohol prensence; a bit too cloying to be great, but certainly nice if you only drink one small bottle. pivo (2537), Germany
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 24, 2004 For a stout from Jamaica you really can’t complain or go wrong here. This was pretty good. Black color and a spongy tan head. Deep roasted malt but with a creamy malt texture to smooth things out. Some chocolate. The finish fills the mouth with a quick coffee taste. Some alcohol detectable and a medium body. Amazing that this comes from a warm-climate country - it’s not at all thin and "refreshing" beerhugger (541), Oshawa, Ontario, Canada
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 23, 2004 Caramel and molasses are added to coffee and chocolate - not a bad aroma. Pours see through at the edges with a big frothy head that disappeared instantly. I got coffee and anise and while the alcohol wasn’t really present in the taste you could sense its presence. Finished slowly ad more sweet than anything else. Enjoyable. BeerPrince (1701), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Oct 15, 2004 Quite a nice stout, sure blows away red stripe. Pours like oil with a nice brown head. Aroma is nutty and espresso. Taste is nutty and sweet with a bitter alcohol burn to finish. Something I would buy again. beerbuzzmontreal (2924), Montreal, Quebec, Canada

Strong licorice aroma with roasty notes. Sweet licorice and caramel flavor with decent roastyness and subtle alcohol. Bitter finish. Medium body, liquorous texture, lively carbonation. This is pretty enjoyable, I wish I bought a couple more bottles. YogiBeera (2437), Hamburg, Germany

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 26, 2004 Pours dark black with short brown head. Suprisingly malty sweet aroma with a bit of roast grain/coffee behind it. Flavour is leaning more towards liquorice, quite sweet. Thin though smooth mouthfeel. Not bad, and ABV is well masked. burcusabrews (106), St. Louis Park, Minnesota, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 7, 2004 Deep balck witha thin mocha head. Aromas of cherries and sour milk. Very light on the roasted malts! Creamy mouthfeel (but could be bigger) notes of coffee and toast. Very little aftertaste. No lingering bitterness. Nice stout for the summer but would leave me quite disappointed on the cold winter night.
