A deep black color with a fine light brown head (little retention). The carbonation shows up on the edges of the lace. The Aromas are of roasted malt, coffee and alcohol. The taste is sweet (light) with a slow dry bite. Mouth feel is rather thin with a dry finish.
Refreshing, well balanced and uncomplicated. A stout? Sammy (4038), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 15/20 | Aug 25, 2004 Roasty coffee flavour disguises alcohol. On smooth side compared to national brands. Popular with mates. But would get bored after half a bottle. Bit aggressive carbonation, malt and syrupy sweet. Dark brown pleasing head. More than acceptable as transition beer to micros. dirkules (613), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 19, 2004 sweet and malty stout... not sure what to expect from a jamaican brew, but it certainly lived up to the coffee flavour. All other flavours were somewhat muted until the residue at the end. There are better ones out there. JoeMcPhee (5010), Jackson Heights, New York, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 11, 2004 Very dark black colour, slight ruby tint with a thick tan head that faded fairly quickly. Nice chocolate aroma, coffee hints and a bit of cherry fruitiness. Very malty taste, molasses, treacle, and chocolate. Coffee bitterness is quite prominant in the finish. Alcohol sneaks into the finish as well but it adds a nice warming touch. As the beer warms, you get more caramel and vanilla on the nose as well as on the front of the palate. Very tasty and full-bodied. BigBilly (127), London W3 6PF, England

The aroma is very sweet with some licquorice and sweet chocloate thrown in. The taste is also mostly sweet and has a medicinal edge. Not a typical roasty stout, but very tasty nonetheless.Score 3.9 Subsequent rating also scored 3.9. Wheatsheaf (104), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 19, 2004 300ml bottle. A black stout that pours with a dense, creamy, mocha head. Nice aroma of stewed dark fruits, vanilla, molasses, and even some red wine. Medium body with a rich, syrupy mouthfeel. Hops are nowhere to be found; this is sweet and malty, but without being cloying. A bit one-dimensional from start to finish, but good depth of flavour. Hardly any roasted malt character. Instead, you taste sticky buns, plums, raisins, molasses, brown sugar, maple syrup, and chocolate. Sweet and moderately sticky finish. I was expecting something thin, with a touch of acidity, but this is actually very rich and full-flavoured. Different. Ignore the label and take it with an open mind.
