I brought this bottle back from Belize. A strong liquor aroma. A licorice and chalky choclate flavor. Sweet finish. tiggmtl (4311), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 5, 2004 Mild, sweet molasses and licorice in the aroma. Dark brown, opaque body with tan head that took some coaxing to appear and runs and hides again quickly. Licorice is dominant in this sweet and pleasantly warming flavour. Alcohol is apparent but not hot. Roasty malts appear towards the dry finish. Aftertaste is all sweetness. Body is fairly light and refreshing and sweetness never cloying. This is a pleasant sweet stout. Not sure I’d want to be sitting in the sun with one of these however... Bottle. Strangely enough - I’m the third person in a row to be thanking Lubiere (from the tropical island of Ottawa) for this beer. mkobes (2104), paramus, New Jersey, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 28, 2004 Dark brown/black body, nice tan head. Sweet licorice aroma along with some malt and a bit of alcohol. Flavor is a tad roasty with some molasses and licorice coming through. Pretty sweet with a mild alcohol finish. Pretty smooth. This would F$%#@ you up in the Jamaican sun. Pretty nice. Beer Snob (382), Ontario, Canada
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 28, 2004 Very sweet, well roasted flavour with the taste of alcohol present as well. A complex taste which surprises considering the brewer. Always available in Toronto and just about the cheapest import around. A good stout. pootzboy (1048), Hawgville, Ontario, Canada
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 16, 2004 I tried this Dragon stout the same evening as some lion extra stout from other carib brewers. This is definitely the better of the two. These stouts are both extremely sweet as befits the tropical stout style. The fact they both come from the Caribbean suggests to me they have cane sugars/molasses and other spicing to flavor them. This dragon porter was less sweet than the lion extra but had some distinct characteristics. It had a great, rich chocolate foamy head when poured but this vanished quickly. This stout is very sweet...figs-coffee-molasses to the tongue and that sweetness lingers long after swallowing due to the absence of sufficient hopping. It smelled reminiscent of a traditional stout except sweet and very alcoholic ( mine was 7.5%). Thankfully they package in 300mil bottles (1/2 pints), the portion is correct for this wobbly pop. Overall not a bad experience but these sweet stouts are not for me. I like the big baltics or imperial porters.
Were it not for the syrupy demeanor, this beer would be a dead ringer for a local sweet stout made by Formosa Springs brewery in the 70s. They only made it in small batches and only once a year for obvious reasons…..it’s not to everyone’s taste.

| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Mar 10, 2004 Obviously, a dark (virtually black) beer. Alcohol and licorice on the nose. Quite sweet flavor, with more licorice and alcohol. Thin on the mouth, and a bit too much alcohol flavor for me.
