One of the sweetest beers I have ever had, like an Orkney ale, but less smoky. Like candy. Beautiful reddish brown color with caramel colored head, very faint smell, and taste of caramelized sugar. | 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 30, 2008 Bottle from Asda. Pours deep red-brown with a tan head. Sweet molasses malt aroma. Taste is initially very promising with lots of liquorice, molasses and chocolate-roast malt. However, further down the glass it loses all subtlety and resolves to a sickly sweet mess with an unpleasant bitter undertone. Shame as the first couple of swigs were magnificent. | 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 5/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 13, 2008 Dark ruby red brown with medium tan head. Aroma of caramel candy. Sweet taste with caramel and malts, not balanced by enough hops. Too sweet for my taste. machfive55 (235), Columbia, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/20 | Dec 8, 2008 Poured black with a nice foamy, brown head...I give them props for presentation with this beer. Otherwise, I found this to be cloyingly sweet, with some slight medicinal undertones. It was very difficult to drink as the sweetness just lingers. This beer might be a good companion to a salty, spicy meal, but otherwise it is tough to drink. terrybail (340), London, Ontario, Canada
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 30, 2008 330ml bottle from the SAQ as part of a trade for a server cabinet
The aroma is of molasses and brown sugar coffee and alcohol
Pours a dark pitch black with a small tan head no lacing
The taste is bitter sweet leaning towards sweet maybe a touch too sweet and a little thin on the finish for a stout
but still quit good

Mild coffee ice cream aroma. Gross fermented sugar with artificial chocolate flavoring. Medium body and carbo. Wretched. Made me want to brush my teeth. smjohnst (203), , Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Oct 21, 2008 This is a VERY unique stout. I didn’t taste like any other stout that I’ve ever had before. It had a sweetness to it that I couldn’t place and a great smoothness. Maverick34 (729), New York, USA
