This beer reminds me a bit of Lion stout. Sweet. Slightly woody. Walnuts in the finish. GMUcrew7 (361), Mason, Ohio, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Oct 11, 2008 Bottle in St Thomas. Pours fairly thick black color with a tan head. Unique aroma that I haven’t experienced before from a stout, very sweet with strong cacao and some notes of molasses and caramel malts. The taste is just odd, kind of like someone put a spoonful of nestle quik chocolate powder in a weak stout. Too sweet for my taste, definitely don’t think corn syrup should be in a beer. | 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Sep 29, 2008 Bottle. Pours black. Without tilting the glass, there is a burgundy glow about one centimetre from the edge. This is pretty dark. The abundant head is light-tan and lasts for some time. The aroma is a little weak, but very dry. It smells of cacao with hints of molasses, caramel, and bread. The initial flavour is cloying. I can definitely taste that corn syrup. Cacao and molasses is noticeable in the background. As the brew passes the tongue some notes of dried, caramelized plums become apparent. As the sweetness fades, hints of coffee and nuts manifests. And as you get into the finish... nothing. The sweetness fades and brings all the other flavours with it. I’m left with a somewhat tasteless dryness. I am, in no way, a sugarholic. This beer is, as I like to call, diabetes in a cup. It is unpleasantly sweet, cloying, and becoming somewhat of a chore to drink. That’s a pity because other than the sweetness, it’s not bad. kevd193213 (499), Hope Valley, Rhode Island, USA

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Sep 18, 2008 Deep black with ruby hints. Complex nose of brown sugary molasses, Rum and raisin and other dried dark fruit, Coffee, roasted nuts and alcohol all complimenting well. The sweetness and fruit carry through into the flavour on an oily base. Coffee and chocolate happens in there swirling in warming alcohol. More like a roasty old ale bred with a stout. very nice indeed. MiP (9096), Sønderborg, Denmark
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 9, 2008 Bottle, 7.5%. Sweet flavour, sugary, not too bitter. Enough alcohol to balance the sweetness, but also for it to be a bit rough in the finish. Very dark brown colour. Small light brown head. Beltramelli (471), Campinas, Brazil
