The aroma & flavor are vineous, chocolatey and earthy (peat). Good balance. Medium to full-bodied with a creamy mouthfeel and lively carbonation. Dry, grassy finish. Excellent Scottish ale. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 20, 2004 Hand-pull at the brewery. Wonderful toffee notes and deep rich mahogany malt tones. Big body with some hop dressing ... maybe a little too much really for a scotch ale. Nice peppery yeastiness, a well done scotch ale made better from the cask.
