I wouldn’t have known by tasting it. It’s one of those malt bombs with not a lot interesting going on. I could live without it. Rciesla (3617), Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jul 22, 2009 Stratford tasting @ Cletus house. Pours an amber body with an off white head. Chewy etoh latent fruit, butterscotch, lighter Belgian spices with some residual sweetness. Sweeter cherry notes a hint medicinal. Decent. Beerlando (2321), Orlando, Florida, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jul 21, 2009 750ml bottle, courtesy northernbrews. Pours a very lightly hazy, copper-amber hue. A foamy beige head leaves jagged flares of lacing on the glass. The nose displays a weird, phenolic, artificial grape overtone, with some dry cereal grain, dark candy sugar, and tannic fruit skins. Flavors follow suit, showing candyish, slightly medicinal grape with a hint of dry, tannic tartness. This certainly tastes unlike any quad I’ve ever had. Weird. Big bodied, alcoholic, and moderately carbonated, the palate sports a dry, parching finish that just doesn’t suit the style. Not very good. SoLan (1412), Orlando, Florida, USA
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 3/5 | 8/20 | Jul 16, 2009 Courtesy Beerlando from northernbrews. Copper, small off white head. Rich malty sweet, a bit sugary, distinct bitter fruit skins, alcohol warmth. A strange combination of flavors. Full body, balanced carbonation. The weird tannic bitterness becomes overwhelming the more I drink. Cletus (5055), Connecticut, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 15, 2009 Bottle… A hard pour provides a clear amber ale with a small, fizzy, white head. As it warms, the aroma really opens up to reveal butterscotch, caramel, toffee, mild clove, biscuit dough and inviting alcohol warmth. Full-bodied with a syrupy mouthfeel and gentle carbonation. Toffee, toasted malt and fuzzy fruit sweetness up front, followed by a very pleasant, delicate bitterness. The alcohol is not at all overwhelming. Lightly sweet finish. I fell asleep in the sun about ¾ of the way through this bottle, but woke back up and finished it off a couple hours later… too good to waste. Thanks to dmschefke for shipping this beer to my front door! dmschefke (371), Eastpointe, Michigan, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | May 12, 2009 On tap. Pours a dark copper with thin white head. Aroma of caramel, dark dried fruit, and sugar. Flavor is surprisingly smooth, almost dangerously, with a nice sweetness, spice, dried fruit, and slight malt and wheat. Alcohol is too well hidden and the bartender told me today that it is believed to be 13% this year. Awesome.
