punkrkr27 (344), Clawson, Michigan, USA May 13, 2008 Mahogany pour with thin lace. Smells of smoke and spice. Smoke flavor, damp wood and roasty malt. Medium thin body. sliffy (1951), Columbus, Ohio, USA Oct 11, 2007 On tap @ the brew pub: Pours a clear copper color with a light tan head. Aroma, smoky and malty. Flavor, smoky, peaty, some caramel, light chocolate hints, and some roasted notes, the smoke was quite well balanced. Silphium (2009), Lansing, Michigan, USA Aug 19, 2007 On tap at Dragonmead. Deep red-brown body, dense cream head. Distinctive smoked peat aroma. Creamy, light, peaty body, emphasizing the smoked malts. If anything, this wasn’t brave enough with the smoked characteristics. It felt too watered down. hopscotch (4460), Vero Beach, Florida, USA Dec 29, 2006 Draft... Clear, very dark, crimson lager with a small, creamy, khaki head. Hickory, campfire smoke aroma. Perfectly balanced flavor with lots of BBQ smoke. Low residual sweetness and light bitterness. Medium-bodied and thin with modest carbonation. mvp (74), Harper Woods, Michigan, USA Sep 5, 2006 Tap @ D’mead. Black beer with no head. Smoke flavor like suggested in the name. Watery texture. Dragonmead has better selections before trying this one.
