Like all Dragonmead brews, it’s on the mild side. It looks beautiful, dark brown in color, nice thick tan head. No outstanding aromas, really. The smoke flavor is there but not overpowering. A bit watery. SuIIy (1474), Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts, USA

Taste is light chocolate, light smokiness and very watery. Last sip of glass contained alot more smoke. Brad (364), Berkley, Michigan, USA
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Jul 19, 2005 On tap at brewery: Tranparent bronze/brown with a large tan creamy head fully sustaining. Aromas are earthy, light floral hops, metallic notes and smoke near the end of the beer. Flavor is roasated malts and water, barely any smoke at all. Finishes with a hint of smoke and touches of non-bitter floral hops. BBB63 (4257), La Porte, Indiana, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 12, 2005 Tap: Reddish brown with a small head and okay lacing. The aroma has notes of smoke, light meaty esters, earthy esters, caramel malts and noble hops. The taste starts with smooth malting upfront supported by light amounts of bitters and smoky overtones. The taste does sort of fade towards the end however. The feel is smooth and drinkable, a touch dry. An okay bier, not oevr-the-top, heck not much smoke really. Quaffable. | 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Apr 25, 2005 Draft @ brewery. Amber in color with a smallish head. Light aromas, in fact light everything. This is just too light to be a good rauch. Light ash and a little butterscotch. scraff (1946), Baltimore, Maryland, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Mar 23, 2005 Deep chestnut, thin white head. Very low key aromas of smoke, sweet citrus and malt. Again, light flavors of smoke, a bit tangy in the middle, with a light hop presence in the end. Light to medium bodied, prickly carbonation, drying light smoked finish. A beginner rauchbier that was aiiiight....

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 22, 2005 On tap at the brewery. Dark brown color with a firm tan head. Smoked malts aroma but it was very subdued. The smoke was evident in the taste, but again it was subtle. Along with the smoked malts, there was a hint of sweetness that came out in the end. This would be a good starter for someone who has not had any smoked beers.
