Another strange aroma eminating from the brews at the Dragonmead brewery! However, not unpleasant this time. Wtih a slight whiff there is a sour earthiness in this beer ... an almost palpable aroma that one could plant a whole crop of hops. The color is pretty ... sort of a strawberry blonde. Excellent malt balance for the complex hop nose. There is some lingering acidity at the back of the mouth but it’s wrestling with some residual sweetness. I would drink many of these beers ... and that’s all I can say.

Clear amber color with a firm off white head. Grapefruit and floral hop aroma and some malts to balace it out. Bitter grapefruit rind hops but they were weaker than I would have expected in the taste. Also got some malts to balance it out at the finish. A solid beer.

Tap at Dragonmead. Good balance of hops. Sweet aftertaste. Doesn’t have the citrus aroma like other IPA’s; nevertheless, still a good brew.

on draft at a local bar. fresh aroma of hops and malt, but the bitterness content of the flavor does not do the aroma much justice. perfect malt content for an IPA, but the bitterness is lacking. if only it were as hoppy as the aroma suggests!

Saturday afternoon in Warren. Nice little IPA to start off the day’s drinking. Not too hoppy (could stand a bit more bite), but better than just about any other IPA you can get in a Detroit-Metro brewpub. And this is Dragonmead! Respect the brew!

Pours a hazy golden color, with a thin topping of white foam. Spotty lacing. Mildly hoppy aroma. Slightly on the thin side, this is more of an American pale ale than an American IPA. Hoppier than a British IPA for sure, but a bit on the mild side for me. Maltiness was mild too, tasty and biscuity, but mild. Light corbonation, body on the lighter side. Clean and drinkable.

Big thanks to my sister Lori for sending down a growler of this. My sister ROCKS! Pours copper with gold edges and adequate off white head. The aroma has spicy hops, a thin layer of orange hard candy, earthiness and some malty sweetness. The aroma comes together creating a sense of dirty celery and citrus (?). The taste starts with spicy hops running from flavor to bitter hoppy spiciness. It then begins to pick up earthiness and malt sweetness. By midway notes of sweet orange flavored hard candy are noticed and carries this a bit oddly into the finish. A typical off kilter unusual brew from Dragonmead.

On tap at brewery. Pours hazy golden orange with white head. Aroma is dominated with citrus and hops with some pine and caramel malt. Flavor is bitter with hops and has some nice citrus, pine and caramel malt. Decent sessionable IPA. Nothing great but drinkable.
