Dark copper colored pour, no real head some visable carbonation. Huge palate very rich and creamy. Very sweet flavor lots of sugars some caramel and light notes of dark fruits some sweet grains.. hard to describe its sooo sweet, but good. Sweet aroma so many sugars and fruits. alcohol is well hidden.. it’s sweet done to death. GeneralGao (3051), Iowa City, Iowa, USA Aug 12, 2008 GTMW ’08. Poured a clear copper color with a light tan head. Smelled of light alcohol, caramel, and subdued toffee. Sweet and full bodied with buttery caramel, fleshy fruit (especially pear), and alcohol. Better than average, but not a show-stopper for me. Philip (436), Illinois, USA Aug 12, 2008 Great Taste. I tried a few small samples of the Dragonmead beers I had not had before, and this was by far and away the finest. The complexity blew away their Final Absolution and Bourbon Wee Heavy. Poured a mahogany red, something akin to Capital’s Eispheyre, with notes of candied sugar, honey, nutmeg, brown sugar, fig, date, creme brulee, with a viscous mouthfeel and a sweet finish. I would say this is right up there with the Livery’s take on the style, and possibly better than their non barrel aged triple bock. Excellent stuff; a highlight of the festival for me.
