Smell is of caramel, raisins, nuts, dough, dark fruit...Belgian and amazing.
Taste is of the same aromas and is Belgian abound! One of the best versions I’ve had from an American brewery.
Mouthfeel is smooth and slightly sweet. Gentle dough and Belgian yeast swirl around the palate. hopdog (5604), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA

Their Belgians never meet true Belgian quality, but they are good. This one, too, meets that mark. TomDecapolis (3194), Skippack, Pennsylvania, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 11, 2009 I had this on tap at the brewery. It poured a dark amber color with a very small white head. It had a very sweet aroma, malty, sugar, my friend said it smelled like bubblegum. It tasted great. I am a Belgian fan, and though it wasn’t exactly a big Belgian like I enjoy, it had a great mouthfeel - lightly carbonated with a medium body. I would have this again. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 29, 2003 Medium brown, with some orange/brown waves. Nice light yellow head. Aroma is promising, sweet caramel and candied apples. Pours on the sweetness, to be sure, but I think the higher abv saved this one. Being a big fan of dubbels for some reason, I really enjoyed it. I thought it had a decent yeast profile on the finish, though the texture was a bit sticky. Had some decent banana esters and yes, there was plenty of bubblegum, though the caramel malt prevented it from drying the flavor out too much (still quite dry though). Still detect problems of a wateriness on the finish, as I have with most of Dragonmead's brews. SuIIy (1465), Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 7, 2006 On tap at the brewery. Bronze with a very light head. Fruitiness in the nose a lot. I didn’t get dark fruits, but, medium, if that makes sense. Flavour goes into malts a lot, like the other dubbel I had at the brewery, but instead of going more into fruits with a subtle hop finish, this one went creamy and rich, a little bready with almost no hop character. Almost buttery tones in the flavour which fades out rather than having a more defined finish (more hops would give it that, if one felt it needed it)
