Medium brown, with some orange/brown waves. Nice light yellow head. Aroma is promising, sweet caramel and candied apples. Pours on the sweetness, to be sure, but I think the higher abv saved this one. Being a big fan of dubbels for some reason, I really enjoyed it. I thought it had a decent yeast profile on the finish, though the texture was a bit sticky. Had some decent banana esters and yes, there was plenty of bubblegum, though the caramel malt prevented it from drying the flavor out too much (still quite dry though). Still detect problems of a wateriness on the finish, as I have with most of Dragonmead's brews.

May 13, 2008 Deep amber pour with thin lacing. Aroma is plum, slight ester, spice and some bit of light fruit, maybe watermelon? Bubblegum flavor with banana,spice, orange rind and a bad vegetal finish. Sticky medium body with prickly carbonation.

Oct 7, 2007 Growler filled 3 days prior. Poured a deep and cloudy amber color with a smaller sized off white head. Aromas of caramel, dark fruits, and a little nutty. Tastes of caramel, dark fruits, and toffee.

Oct 6, 2007 Pours a lightly hazy amber with a smaller bubbly off white head. Aroma of caramel, toffee, nuts and malty sweetness. Flavor of dark fruits, toffee, nuts, Belgian yeast and some spices.

Aug 4, 2007 What a bold beer! It was rich and creamy with an alcohol content to match. I found it slightly tart but malt dominated (as it should). In the mouth it felt somewhat fizzy.

Jul 1, 2007 When you go to Dragonmead, order off the Belgian section. Their Belgians never meet true Belgian quality, but they are good. This one, too, meets that mark.
