Aug 2, 2006 Draught. Deep black with a bubbly mocha head. Aroma is of dry roast, rich bitter chocolate, and chalk. The flavour has some mild chocolate and kind of grape-ish characteristics. Not particularly good.

Jul 25, 2006 Updated: Jul 26, 2006Draught. At 2006 Michigan Brewers’ Guild Festival. Opaque bubbly ruby-brown with a small creamy-fizzy beige head. Aroma of sweet roast malt, a bit of cola, vague hoppiness. Weak taste, nutty and bitter, gets more bitter in the finish. Weak body, watery and lightly astringent, decent carbonation - overall a little weak, one of the poorer stouts at the festival.

Jul 24, 2006 Michigan BGF 06 Day 2: Deep brown and little head. The aroma is chocolate and slightly nutty, lactic sourness, some smoke and coffee. The taste is watery grains and malt with coffee background. Not as much mocha as expected. Really not very good at all, maybe it was off?

Jul 16, 2006 Deep black pour with a nice, even head. The nose is real lactic and grainy. Notes of bittersweet chocolate real waif out of the glass. The body is surprisingly full with notes of sweet chocolate, roasted beans and brown sugar. A nice dry stout that goes down really smooth.

Oct 3, 2005 Pretty much black in color with brown highlights, wisp of a brown head, pretty much gone by the time I got to it. Aroma of roast and big caramel. Flavor is lightly roasty with a bit of cocoa and a lot of caramel, too much IMO. Medium bodied, not dry at all for a dry stout. I’m starting to see that the beers are either mislabelled by us or by them at the brewery.

Jul 19, 2005 On tap at brewery: Opaque brown/black with a small head which diminishes very rapidly. Big coffee aromas, toasted bread, roasted malt and smoke round out the nose. Flavor is more coffee and thats it really, really overpowering. Finishes with more of the same, drying coffee. Has a light and more lively mouthfeel than most other stouts.

Mar 25, 2005 dark pour with a tan head. has a light caramel scent to it. the taste is mostly of chocolate ( like the majority of beers here) but has a hint of coffee in the end.
