Poured a medium brown color with a smaller sized off white head. Aromas of chocolate and earthiness. Tastes of chocolate, earthy, and lighter coffee in the finish. The aroma is chocolate and slightly nutty, lactic sourness, some smoke and coffee. The taste is watery grains and malt with coffee background. Not as much mocha as expected. Really not very good at all, maybe it was off? Sammy (4051), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Black with mocha small head but lots of lace. Strong carbonation, drinkable and concentrated flavour, above average mouthfeek. Some roast, chocolate malt. Not what you expect.

Opaque bubbly ruby-brown with a small creamy-fizzy beige head. Aroma of sweet roast malt, a bit of cola, vague hoppiness. Weak taste, nutty and bitter, gets more bitter in the finish. Weak body, watery and lightly astringent, decent carbonation - overall a little weak, one of the poorer stouts at the festival. thedm (3836), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 14, 2004 This draft brew from the brewery poured a large sized head of finely sized dark brown colored bubbles that left behind a good lacing. The body was uncarbonated opaque and dark ruby red brown in color. The aroma was that of medium strength dark malts and molasses. The mouth feel was tingly yet smooth with a malty palate. The flavor contained notes of dark malts, molasses and was somewhat sweet. Ibrew2or3 (2766), Safety Harbor, Florida, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Jun 8, 2008 Growler brought down to FL by my sister. Pours deep dark blackness with nice mocha head. Nice looking brew. The growler gave it a whiff of oxidation to start off the nose with. The bulk of it is toffee, burnt malts, dark roastiness, some vague dark fruitiness somewhere in the background and a hint of coco. The taste is much the same with roastiness, sweet toffee, burnt malts approaching ashy to go along with an underscore of faint oxidation. The mix of roasty malts, toffee and seemingly some oatmeal twang creates on interesting note that closes in on mild sourness. Enjoyable product with delicious creamy mouthfeel. Flavor is all coffee. No malt. Coffee all the way thru with an intensified black coffee bitterness in the finish. NYHarvey (2154), New York, New York, USA
