Dragonmead Final Absolution Belgian Style Trippel

Aroma of funky hay, mint, barnyard, straw and flowers. Interesting and different. Cloudy yellow with a thick white head. Major banana and spicey clove with a touch of alcohol. It is strong and warming and just a little too sweet. Fuller body, but the spices manage to keep it feeling dry. On tap at 2006 GTMW.

On tap at Great Taste of the Midwest. I saved this one for my 100th rating, as it immediately became a new favorite. Pours a yellow hue with a small white head. Sweet candy aroma with hint of bananas. Taste is more banana and sweetness with a touch of other fruit flavor. I couldn’t pinpoint what I was tasting, but it didn’t matter. This beer was so smooth and dangerously drinkable. Highly recommended to anyone, regardless of your style preferences.

heavily cloudy dark straw color w/ a fluffy white head. Light aroma of belgian yeast and spices corriander and maybe lemon peel. Palate is light & fluffy. Flavor is belgian yeast candied sugars banannas and a light spice. It’s ok.

Bottle. Nice dark yellow, tons of long lasting streaming bubbles, frothy white head. Really interesting aroma that initially reminded me of baseball card bubble gum. This gave way to some nice malt sweetness and alcohol - very pleasant. Medium foamy mouthfeel. What an interesting taste - typical sweetness and alcohol you would expect from the style but a hint of that candy quality I found in the aroma, and the addition of pils like saaz hops that really make this unique. Candy sugar linger. This wasn’t complex, but I had a lot of fun drinking it and I would look to pick it up again - nice job Dragonmead.

Draught at 2006 MBG Summer Festival. Pours a hazy dark yellow-orange with a small diminishing white head. Aroma is fruity, yeasty and quite sweet -- not bad at all. Flavour’s also fruity and sweet along with yeast and a decent amount of alcohol and hops. Medium bodied. A little simple for the style but still a pretty good Tripel.

Bottle. Pours a hazy dark orange body with a medium-sized creamy white head and airy lace. Great spicy aroma with liberal notes of pepper and cloves. Also there is a respectable pear and banana profile. Big, thick body. The flavour is leaning towards massive breadiness and yeast character. There is a great deal of sugary sweetness, cereal, and tepid alcohol feel. Far less fruit than the aroma suggested. Finishing with a bit of herbal grass. Quite nice but possibly too sweet and sticky. Purchased (somewhere in Michigan) in April of 2006.

Draught. At 2006 Michigan Brewers’ Guild Festival. Slightly hazy yellow with a decent white head. Big banana aroma, some apple, candyish malt, a hint of wheat and alcohol, and of course yeast. Taste of ripe apple, flowery hops, plenty of sweet malt and yeast, a little boozy, almost perfectly balanced, still very nice, could be spicier. Has a thick, sticky body, with a long subtle finish - pretty good tripel, not outstanding, but very drinkable - could use more yeast complexity.

I had this on tap at the brewery and at the Summer Beer Festival. Awesome! Full Body but not overpowering, perfect balance of Hops and Malt in a high alcohol beer.
