Dragonmead Final Absolution Belgian Style Trippel

Bottle. Ive had this at the brewery a few times and wouldnt rate it, knowing I had a 12 oz bottle squirreled away. Keeps a nice head and has mostly a malty and artificial banana aroma. The high alcohol is the only selling point here as the malts are way too sweet and the hop taste kinda sucks. Not for me. Tastes like tangerine apricot mango juice.

Big thanks to Lou18, my NJ connection for this one. huge aroma of banana and some citrus hits the nose as the golden amber brew settles down. more flavors of banana, clove and some yeasty qualities as well. the 10% abv is hidden quite well. the only negative, for me anyway, was the large amount of candi sugar in this one. overall a very nice triple.

Nicely lasting white firm foam, well laced. Hazy charming deep orange robe, superb looking. Slightly corianderish nose comes out somewhat smoky. Rich biscuity presence crowns over the oranges and estery flavors. Fairly subtle nose that takes some time to develop. Good alcohol backbone in mouth, warming herbal and grainy palate, bubblegummy entrance and drier escape. Ultra-creamy palate, very low carbonation, medium bodied. Felt like a nitro pour that hid its flavors, but there was potential in there.

Draught snifter sampled with tiggmtl, Rastacouere and Olivier_MTL at Ashleys in Ann Arbor MI. David thinks it was nitro...nitro for a tripel? Well I wasn’t looking at it right as it arrived, but stranger things have been done to beer I guess. Anyway as I tasted it, this poured thick peachy-orange with a long-lasting ring of white head....nose was big and fruity, apricots and light caramel and perhaps some orange peel....body very pleasant and drinkable, fruity with brown sugar and a touch of pepper, undermined a bit by the very low carbonation...honey, vanilla and green currants show up late in the mix for added interest, but the whole is not terribly impressive, though more drinkable and less alcoholic than many. Mixed.

I must be misinformed by past examples of this style what the appearance should be. Shouldn’t it be quite cloudy? This is pretty well clear with some particles floating. The flavor is hard-hitting, very well balanced. There’s some alcohol-ness that creates some cut on an otherwise very smooth palate. I do find myself very much in agreement with the Belgian Tripel style.

Amber orange with a mist of sediment clouding it. Quickly fading ivory foam leaves the top with a moderate collar. Lacing drips quickly back into the collar and nothing to very little sticks. Aroma is of melon and banana candy sweetness with a great addition of lime peel zest, pink roses, mild musty yeast, and is lightly spiced with clove and white pepper. Taste has a short banana and pale malt dry front. Spice kicks in pretty quickly with yeast, pepper, and clove. A mild melon candy and dulled caramel sweetness soaks up the extras and keeps an adequate balance. Fluffy banana bread, airy rosey perfume, and delicate left over spices fade off the finish with carefully placed alcoholic esters and flowery hops. Feel is just a nudge over a medium body with a solid carbonation, hold, and texture. Has a malty smoothness and light candy sweetness overall with a good spicy kick and airy dryness about its touch. Nice complex flowery spicey finish. A pretty good Tripel. Complicated enough and well made with that certain American playfulness that suits its character.

Orange amber with a film of white head. Yeast ester aromatics of spice and clove. Sweet malt, caramel, and a complex Belgian yeast ester profile predominate the flavor. Slightly phenolic finish. Mouthfeel is full and very alcohol hot.

Wow, as far as belgian styles go, I liked this one alot. Poured a hazy orange with faomy white head. The nose os spice and banana and clove with some yeast as well. There is plenty of alcohol in the teaste , but this is well made and a very good drink. Thanks to Eyedrinkale.
