Commercial Description:
This is the ultimate Belgian style. The very high gravity of this beer is balanced by the smoothness of its finish. Banana and Clove aromas come from the Belgian yeast strain combining with the generous dose of Belgian Candi Sugar. The Saaz hops help to give this beer a balanced bitterness with no noticeable hop aroma.

A Mes rate: Bottle at Coventry Beer Festival thanks to Phil.
An awesome golden amber /orange colour with a good off white head and excellent condition. Big bready and yeasty aroma with good fruity malt and hops plus some slight pepper on top. Slightly sour almost bretty note in the mouth. Lots of Belgian feel from the yeast but there is a clear U.S. character from the woody notes. More bread. Decent chucnky finish leaving an unusual sour hop aftertaste. Good but not amazing.

Bottled at Coventry BF thanks to some smuggling by Phil_L. A hazy copper coloured beer with a big whitish head. The aroma is spicy, peppery, yeasty and lemony. Typical of your Belgian styled strong blondes. Big spicy flavours with good hops and yeasty notes. Very Duvel like in my book. Great long finish. Tasty.

Have had this a few times, finally got around to rating it. Pours a nice dark golden color into the glass with white head. Smell is big fruit, spice and sweetness. Taste is much the same, some banana comes through, nice finish and hardly noticeable alcohol. This is nice for the style.

Bottled, sample many thanks to Phil_L for bringing this along. Gold to amber with white head. After drinking session bitters and milds in a British beer Fest, boy is this full on. Heavy spicy notes, masses of cloves and yes Mes, I did get almond somewhere in there. Tongue clearing alcohol, which quickly clear the nasal passages, like breathing fire. After looking for subtelties in beer, there is no point in looking here. A caveman of a beer.

12oz bottle, poured clear amber with white fizzy head that dissipated completely and left no lacing. Aroma very sweet, malty, and fruity (light fruit like apples, grapes). Taste is moderately/heavily sweet and a bit tart and a little acidic. Mouthfeel is slightly creamy, with dry finish. Pretty tasty!!

Bottle. Pours a hazy golden with a one finger white head that fades leaving some lacing. Aroma of spicy yeast, citrus, grainy malt, and a hint of banana. Taste is the same as aroma. Medium mouthfeel with a mild amount of bitterness and a dry spicy finish. Very good.

12oz bottle, no date. Clear amber orange with a small light yellowish head, fading to a thick ring and miniscule film. Fruity peaches, bananas, and spicy yeast sit atop a backbone of herbal notes, sweet candi sugar and sweet grainy malts. Flavor was much the same--banana, peach, Belgian yeast--the malts seemed to be a little less grainy here. Overall fairly sweet until the bone dry finish--thank you hops and high alcohol--with bitterness reaching a 2 or so. Without looking this does have a very light Saaz hop aftertaste that I’m not sure I would’ve been able to pick up on, except for the fact I just got done drinking some Upstream Imperial Pilsener--they don’t usually use Saaz in a tripel, do they? I can tell this is strong, but it isn’t offensive or detracting. Medium full body with light prickly carbonation. If memory serves, this might be the first beer from these guys that I’ve liked. Very nice.

12 oz bottle. Poured a clear light orange-golden color. The creamy white head reduced over a few minutes to a thin lasting film that left some pretty good lace on the glass. The aroma was of champaign, clove, and subdued, but distinct white wine vinegar. Sweet and medium bodied with a warming alcohol effect. It was even a bit chalky. I tasted clove, light brown sugar, and a hint of vinegar (especially up front) that imparted some delicate acidity. This was better than I had expected and improved as it warmed a bit.
