Tasted like a slightly and I mean slightly more chocolaty Guiness. I don’t see what was imperial about this beer. It was a good tasting beer but I expected more. JMFG (1514), Florida, USA

Black pour, thin tan head. Milk chocolate, licorice, lactose, cocoa sweetness on the aroma. Thick mouthfeel, lightly carbonated. Very light taste, some malted chocolate candy and cocoa on the taste. Also an odd and weak finish. Had its good points and its bad points. Ibrew2or3 (2766), Safety Harbor, Florida, USA

Pours an attractive stout look seeming totally opaque with semi firm mocha head and spotty lacing. The aroma is light and comes across as a bit strange for the style. I get dark roasty malts and an equal level of earthiness mixed with carrots mixed and notes of alcohol. The flavor has lots of tasty rich roasted malts, chocolate malts and burnt malts. Then fresh cucumber and chocolate covered malts balls seem to rise up out of nowhere. Midway and to the finish the chocolate, burnt and roasty malts come together for a pleasing end and after taste mixing with a mild tart malt astringency. Quake1028 (633), Tampa, Florida, USA

black body, fully opaque....tan head, 2 fingers thick with nice retention and copious lacing....aroma is a quandary, huge amounts of vegetal notes, rooty and earthy....also notes of lactose, chocolate malts, some perfume/chemical notes and then more vegetal notes....almost 600 beer ratings have failed me on this one, because after about 15 minutes discussing and smelling the beer, I still cannot accurately describe what’s going on here....flavor profile picks up a good amount of chalkiness to go along with the aforementioned features....almost tastes lettuce like....medium bodied, average carbonation....I think I got my RDA of 8 essential vitamins and minerals drinking this thing.... mgumby10 (1858), Jupiter, Florida, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 15, 2008 Courtesy IBrew2or3. Growler. Pours pitch black, with a small, swirly light brown head. Smells of rich roasty chocolate, some light coffee, dark fruits and sweet malts. The flavor is pretty big burnt malts, roast, chocolate, and mild coffee. Some bitter hops are noticeable in the finish and aftertaste. Much bigger on the roast end than the chocolate end for this impy. Not a bad brew at all. capcup (2), Warren, Michigan, USA does not count | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 23, 2008 Great looking beer brought to the table. Nice and dark with a caramel head on it. Slightly smokey taste with some dark burnt chocolate. Not as stout as the IP’s I like, but still pretty good. kp (8500), Woodstock, Georgia, USA

Underwhelming aroma of roasted malt and chocolate. Flavor of roasted malt and chocolate with a bitter finish, it feels quite mild for an imperial stout. The body is light with a liquorous texture and soft carbonation. This is a good illustration of my visit to Dragonmead’s, a letdown.
