Commercial Description:
A Russian Classic! This stout is extremely big. Thick and malty, this stout is created with six-row barley as well as roasted, Chocolate and Caramel malts. The E. Kent Goldins hops do not quite take up all of the malt sweetness. You can't see through this beer but you can see how just a little goes a long way.

Draft... This beer rocks!... Pitch black ale with a small, frothy, light brown head. Good retention. The aroma is a rich marriage of cocoa, espresso and hickory smoke. The flavor mirrors the nose and is perfectly balanced. The malty sweetness is totally equaled by the dark roasted malt and English hop bitterness. Lightly acidic. Extremely heavy with an ultra-creamy mouthfeel and gentle carbonation. Finishes burnt and bitter. World class Impy Stout!

Black as night pour with a small brown head that forms a nice ring around the glass. The roasty nose is buttery and notes vanilla as well. Dry body is full of dark chocolate and slightly hopped. Some coffee notes emerge in the finish, but ultimately ends chalky on the tongue. This is just too dry for me, I like my Impys with some sweetness.

Sampled from a day-old growler: Pours a mostly opaque black with a thin ring of lightly-lacing dark tan head. Bittersweet dark chocolatey, but fairly dry aroma has good complexity. Body starts with a sweet sticky dark caramel flavor turning more dry, earthy and roasty toward a slightly warming finish. Could use a little more body and complexity, but still quite nice.

On tap at the brewery. Dark colour with a good head. Light mouthfeel. Chocalety malt sweetness with a finish of sour astringency to it. Ovaltine beer.

Poured black with a brown head. Creamy chocolatey aroma. The flavor was chocolatey and fruity. Acidic hoppiness and a bitter finish. The body was a thin with a dry finish.

bottle sample from the Hampton tasting, thanks guys - Pours the typical for the style black with a lasting tan head. It smells of coffee and chocolate. The flavor is mainly the dark roasted malt with coffee notes. It’s not very sweet. The mouthfeel is moderate and the finish fairly dry. It could use some more hops and body though. It’s good. Like most here I just have high expectations of this style.

Bottle courtesy of someone from Georgia: Not quite black on the pour. Aroma has some candy and chocolate. Flavor has some more of that candy like sweetness, and chocolate. Very mellow beer, with a dry finish for an impy.

Thanks Georgia crew for sharing this bottle you picked up on your trip. The beer pours to a dark brown/black body with a nice tan head. The aroma is much like the Central Waters BBS. Tootsie Rolls, chocolate, sweet powdered sugar, apples. The flavor is chocolate, sugary sweetness, apples. The palate is sugary, dry, apple juicy, medium bodied, tart.
