Commercial Description:
This was the 1500 batch of beer produced since opening the doors of the brewery in 1989. It turned out everyone liked it so much we make it all the time now. It is a Pale Ale that is late hopped like an Imperial IPA for an "over the top" hop aroma.

Draught. Pours hazy orange with a large, creamy white head, lasting with excellent lacing. Aroma is average malt (cereal, meal), heavy hop (flowers, citrus, pine), average yeast (sweat) with notes of pear, pineapple, and apricot. Medium bodied, creamy texture, average carbonation, and a bitter finish. Long duration, light sweetness, moderate acidity and bitterness.

On tap at Father’s Office Santa Monica. Pours hazy orange with white head. Aroma is hops and citrus with caramel malts. Flavor is bitter hops, citrus, with caramel and sweet malts. Nicely balnaced IPA with good malt backbone. Nice solid ale.

Fantastic IPA that’s a wonderful neon orange and has a lively floral/punch in the face grapfruit character. The flavor is all grapefruit and lively citrus. Nice malt background that’s got light caramel. Great IPA, and especially one that can be had in session! Mmm.

12oz bottle. Hazy gold-orange with a big white head. This was a bit of a gusher on opening, and was over-carbonated, though some aggressive swirling helped that. Big floral and tropical fruit hop nose, with some sweet malt as well. The flavor is toasty malt with a big citrus and floral hop flavor with medium bitterness. Medium-light bodied with too much carbonation. Drakes beers seem to chronically suffer from over-bottle conditioning. A very nice pale ale that packes the hop flavor of a great IPA into the body and bitterness of an APA. Great sessionable hop fix.

Bottle at Church Key, North Beach, San Francisco, with Phyllis, 26th Mar 09. Amber with a small white head. Superb aroma of oranges, pine, flowers and grapefruit. Packs tons of flavour for the strength and the palate should be filed under "dangerously drinkable". Lots of character, a fun beer.

Bottle from Taverner. Thanks! Nice aroma of citrus (grapefruit and orange), floral, pepper, and earthy hops. A touch of toasted malt sweetness I guess. Pours golden orange with a nice fluffy head and sticky lacing. The flavor is a burst of citrus hops followed by resins, perfume, floral notes. Long dry finish, the malt backbone is a tad toasty, but thats about it. Effervescent carbonation on this one. Really enjoyable flavorful session ale that I would drink all the time if it were available to me.

Bottle. Pours a slightly hazy copper color with a small white head. Has a malty citrus hoppy aroma. Sweetish malty hoppy flavor with hints of citrus. Has a sweetish malty hoppy bitter finish.
