DYCSoccer17 (2012), Davis, California, USA Jun 1, 2008 4 ounce sample on tap at the Raley Field Brewfest. Wonderful aromatic hempy, catty hoppy simcoe nose. Some orange citrus notes are present. Me oh my, I do like myself some simcoe. Wonderfully quaffable. Transparent orange body with an off-white head. Starts with an onslaught of simcoe hops. Catty, hempy goodness. Becomes sticky and chewy with perhaps some caramel in the body. Finishes with more hops with some moderate spiciness followed by more catty flavors late. One dimensional, but that dimension is damn fine.
rayOfBeer (226), El Cerrito, California, USA Jul 13, 2008 Poured on tap at Marin Brew Breast Fest a light amber with a medium sized white head. Aroma is overly floral hoppy with a little vegetale greeness. The flavor comes in with a burst of sweet caramel at the get go then dominated by floral citrus hops (on the orangy side instead of gratefruit). The flavor drops out abruptly at the end with very little bitter and not much lingering. A good beer overall. grant (759), Martinez, California, USA Jul 7, 2008 Nice sunset color, light head. Wonderful hoppy aroma with grapefruit, buds, light roast and doughy malts. The malt profile is very reminiscent of the IPA but the hops are very different. Nice balanced malt flavor, toeing the dry/sweet line well, with plenty of toasty malts evident. I might have a new go-to beer here. Fantastic. bhensonb (2858), Woodland, California, USA Jul 4, 2008 Bottle from Marcus - really appreciated. Amber color with a smallish off-white head. Aroma is fruit and floral. Amazing. Medium body with creamy carbonation. Flavor is fruit and floral hop over mildly roasted malt. Finish is malt and hop. Balanced. Really drinkable. Just excellent. ABUSEDGOAT (1900), California, USA Jun 28, 2008 Amber colored, moderate head, decent lacing and retention. Great aroma, actually reminds me of Dreadnaught. Grapefruit, citrus, pine, and loads of sweet tropical fruit. Almost gave the aroma a 9, I was really surprised. Medium bodied, moderate bitterness, quite drinkable. I’m buying more of this. Nik925 (92), California, USA Jun 17, 2008 Balanced yet packs a flavor punch, texture and color could not have been better, carb. was perfect as well, it wasn’t my favorite beer but Drakes could not have made this recipie any better.
