hopdog (5525), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 2, 2006 12oz hand bottled from the brewery sample acquired in trade. Poured a deeper and cloudy amber color with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of spices, caramel, fruity and light yeast. Tastes of stronger spices, lighter fruitiness, light yeast, and caramel. egajdzis (3598), Spring Mount, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 1, 2006 Poured a hazy amber color with a small, off white head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of cocoa, nuts, dried fruits, and light caramel malts. Taste of more nuts, and light spices, dry, earthy yeast, dark fruits, with more caramel and light roast. TomDecapolis (3127), Skippack, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 1, 2006 Thanks to hopdog for landing this one hand bottled from the brewer. Pours a hazy light orange amber with an average tan bubbly head. Aroma of dark fruits, caramel, malt, various spices and toffee. Flavor was fruity, with yeast, caramel and dark fruits. ratman197 (3137), Arvada, Colorado, USA Jul 23, 2006 On tap @ Drakes poured a clear reddish brown with a lasting amber head. Aromas of sweet malt, dark fruit and spices. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of cola, some fruitiness, spice and a hint of cocoa with a lightly sweet finish. nahthan (129), Oakland, California, USA Jul 2, 2006 On tap at Barclay’s in Oakland. Malty, slight caramel. Nice yeast flavor, apparently this is the same yeast strain that Russian River has isolated/cultivated, stored & supplied by White Labs. Not too bitter, very low hop flavor. Delicious. marcus (1821), Sacramento, California, USA Jun 24, 2006 On tap at Drake’s. This brownish ale poured with a thin off-white head. There is a full malty flavor with some nice spices and a carbonated mouthfeel. Not bad. jimbowood (947), Athens, Georgia, USA Jun 6, 2006 Hand bottled @ the brewery. This is a great, spicey, caramel-flavored Belgian brew. Very good. Quickly becoming one of my favorite breweries. nolankowal (850), Columbus, Ohio, USA Jun 1, 2006 Beerguy101 supplied me with this hand-bottled beauty, thanks again Mitch! Pours a somewhat hazy copper color with a very light tan head that dissapates to a sporatic film. Apricot, banana, yeast, a touch of smoke and sweet malt fill out the aroma for this one. The flavor also holds the banana/fruity feel with some yeast and bit more alchohol coming through. Light, fruity and somewhat bitter in the front with a super dry/bittersweet/clean finish. An interesting brew overall, great for summertime evenings. Light and spicy.
