WeeHeavySD (1711), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA Apr 19, 2008 On tap @ Hamilton’s 4/18/08, during CBC insanity. Shared with Bikesandbeer, my girlfriend Cyn, WeeObese, Darkelf, and others. Pours cloudy dark red with a bright white ring. Nose Bretty, sweet, and overall nicely tart. Taste is bretty, sweet, sour, and overall a big mouthful of yum. Towards the end of the glass some of the amber of the original beer begins to come out. I really liked this, it was a big ole sour pucker fest served in a pint glass.
bb (2088), Martinez, California, USA Jul 18, 2008 Draft. Rich amber beer with a big cream colored head. Malty, yeasty, tart aroma. Tart, malty, yeasty, lemony fruit flavors. Medium body. Tart, malty, fruity (lemon & stone fruit) lingers. jimbowood (721), Athens, Georgia, USA Jun 22, 2008 bottle from rodger. Still as its straight from the barrel. Very vinous and winelike. Sour undertones. Nice. marcus (989), Sacramento, California, USA Jun 19, 2008 On tap at Toronado. This dark amber ale poured with a thin beige head and a sour aroma. The sweet caramel malt base is overwhelmed by the brett-induced sour fruit flavor. However, the result is very pleasing to the palate. KrausenJockey (189), Stockton, California, USA Apr 23, 2008 Updated: Aug 8, 2008Tap at Hamilton’s 4/18/08 during CBC, actually drank one with Rodger who brewed this magnificent sour. Big nose of Brett. The flavors move from sour to bready to hints of caramel and light fruit. The overall sour level is restrained but assertive, you know kind of like jumbo shrimp. The amber base is never really lost or overshadowed by the sour, a true pleasure from start to finish.
