| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Feb 18, 2009 On tap @ E. J. Phair in C-town. Pours a brilliant clear copper with lasting thin white head and impressive sheet lacing clinging to the glass. The modest aroma of sweet malts and grassy-piny hops is noticed covering up a meek amount of sugar sweet malts and faint caramelization. The taste begins with rich malty goodness. The malts are immediately attacked by a gale force storm of hops starting with pine then moving to crisp fresh green and grassy. It almost seems wet hopped. By midway I get a nice dose of grapefruit hops joining the fray. A malty sweet backbone is resistant to the mountain of hops and retains a precarious foot hold on the flavor. It ends with malt sweetness, hints of caramelization and a hop bite that is finally beginning to give in and eventually fade away. Fantastic brew! It could however use a bigger aromatic presence. ryanknock (150), San Francisco, California, USA
